The Latest bit of Democrat AstroTurf: The Debt Crisis and Credit Downgrade is the fault of the Tea Party; Somehow the Tea Party and their Republican supporters distracted folks in Washington D.C. from focusing on economic solutions…blah. blah. blah.
Well, back on July 21, 2011 (less than a month ago), Franco Ripple, vice president of communications Florida Young Democrats, went on the “internationally syndicated” (i.e internet) The David Pakman show. Ripple, an aide to Broward County Commissioner Kristin Jacobs, and the host mock Congressman Allen West and Michelle Bachmann for spending all their time talking about the debt ceiling; They’d rather have them talk about silly things like whether Debbie Wasserman Schultz is “vile”.
This wouldn’t be Mr. Ripple’s first foray into astro turf. Back in February, he was a driving force behind the union-backed “Awake The State” rallies aimed at Governor Rick Scott.
(watch for the Mitch Ceasar cameo)
Ripple, a former organizer with Obama For America (OFA), was the new media director for Fair Districts.Org; They’re the fine folks behind amendments 5 & 6 and the current redistricting mess.
No wonder they weren’t focused on the debt ceiling crisis…

Always the same shady characters working things
After watching Congress unfold, I do blame the Tea Party for what is happening. Especially after they admittedly got 98% of what they wanted, still voted no, and still were not happy. Democrats lost big and still get blamed.
Tea Partiers would rather let the country go down the tubes rather than work together to solve problems. Their position is that their answer is the only solution. Anything else and it is not acceptable and let the country suffer.
Responsible Republicans need to wake up and realize what this country really needs and the country is more important than trying to keep the party together.
As a independent moderate I cannot support anyone who holds the views of someone in the Tea Party. PS I am not very pleased about Democrats but right now there is little choice.
Well, I am an Independent and everything the “Independent” just stated makes absolutely no sense. You must be a left leaning Independent? The whole concept to balancing a budget is to project you expenditures and then cut out the waste. If I recall the Tea Party wanted cuts in spending as the Democrats have an addiction to spending. You balance a budget by raising the debt ceiling by 4 Trillion? What happens when you run out of that money? You raise it again? My god it is obvious you never had an accounting course in your life. We could lose voters like you. I am just sorry you make us Independent’s look bad. You obvious need to go and educate yourself in economics, finance, accounting and a ethics course would not hurt you as well. Go educate yourself before you come on here making such ignorant statements.
Thanks, Another Independent!
Actually I believe in a balance budget amendment, but to do so will require higher taxes just between social security (which has never been actuarially sound and needs to be) and defense spending. Cutting out waste is one of those catch phrases that no one has ever gotten a handle on. Just to cut because of perceived waste does not work. It’s like pulling out meat just because you assume there is some fat in there. There probably is some, but you create incredible damage when you do that. You have to ferret out waste.
Just so you know, I qualify to take the CPA exam and have taken economic classes. I am an old Ford Republican, which is rare, but he was a Great President that understood. That means, Fiscal Conservatism is not just reducing taxes, its also about adequately funding services even if it means raising taxes. However, it does not mean welfare but workfare. It is about prioritization which no one cares about today. It’s just cut beyond bleeding.
Fortunately, I believe that people like me, the moderates/centrist are the majority. The problem is that they get torn by the two extremes that control this country, who are too stubborn to ever think about working together, i.e., West and Wasserman-Shultz. But it is us in the middle that will have to break this stalemate.
You mention “went on the “internationally syndicated” (i.e internet) The David Pakman show”
TDPS is currently airing on over 150 terrestrial radio and television stations across 5 countries, as well as on DirecTV and DISH Network international, hence international syndication. Not “internet.”
We stand corrected.
