Broward Democrat Elijah Manley will surrender to authorities on Thursday after making negative comments on social media, a source tells REDBROWARD. Manley is accused of making a written threat of violence in response to political posts. Manley recently ran for the US Congress in District 20. He lost the Democrat nomination to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Manley’s repost of a Florida Politics story on Democrat finances allegedly contained the threat of violence.

“Every democrat needs to get behind the Democratic nominee for Senate,” Manley wrote. “Anybody not doing that, I promise you I’m going to cut your fucking head off.”

Manley has been a vocal critic of Wasserman-Schultz and the Democratic Party establishment over their perceived mistreatment of black voters in Broward. Redistricting forced Wasserman-Schultz to run for the CD 20 seat once held by the late Alcee Hastings.

Sources close to Manley believe politics are behind the criminal charge.
