Still Think “Occupy Wall Street” Is a Grass-Roots Movement?

Triumph loves Occupy Fort Lauderdale

The media wants you to believe the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations are grass-roots events organized by angry moms, dads, kids, and grandparents. Bunk! We showed you the Democrats and Union officials involved in the Occupy Fort Lauderdale marches.

Here is an email from MoveOn.org highlighting its role in the “Occupation”:

“Dear MoveOn member,

Have you heard the incredible news?

Thanks to the unflinching commitment of the Occupy Wall Street protesters, and support from hundreds of thousands of people across the country, they won their fight this morning to continue the occupation of Zuccotti Park.1

Mayor Mike Bloomberg had threatened to evict the protesters on behalf of Brookfield Properties, the real estate conglomerate that owns Zuccotti Park. But in the face of massive public opposition, at the last minute, they backed down.

But New York isn’t the only place protesters are under threat of eviction and intimidation. Protesters in Boston, Denver, Seattle, San Francisco, and other cities have been arrested and harassed.2

This morning, we saw what happens when hundreds of thousands of us mobilize. So now, Occupy Wall Street is calling for a global day of action tomorrow against Wall Street greed, with events in more than 950 cities and 82 countries.3 This is the time to join an occupation solidarity action in your area to defend this peaceful protest movement and help it take root across the country.

Can you join an occupation solidarity action this Saturday?

No, but keep me updated

After the news hit that the Occupy Wall Street protesters would be effectively evicted from Zuccotti Park, the call went out across the country.

300,000 MoveOn members signed an emergency petition to Mayor Bloomberg in less than 24 hours, which was delivered to the park and City Hall last night. Tens of thousands of people in New York and across the country put in calls to the city, demanding that the protesters be allowed to stay.

And at 6 this morning, thousands of MoveOn members, union workers, community organizers, and other brave New Yorkers swelled the ranks of the protesters, standing with them shoulder-to-shoulder against their impending eviction.

Most incredible were the 99% protesters themselves. They stood their ground, in the best traditions of nonviolent resistance. And in an amazing show of organization and action, they undertook a full-scale cleaning of the park, taking away the false pretext of a “cleaning operation” under which Brookfield and the city were threatening to evict them.

Want to be part of the Occupy story in your area by joining the solidarity action near you this Saturday?

Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Main Focus: Beating Allen West?

Debbie Wasserman Schultz

RED BROWARD regulars will remember the 2010 elections when Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Out of Touch) spent most of her time campaigning against Congressman Allen West (R-Plantation). It seemed as though Debbie logged more time in West Palm Beach than Weston.

Debbie has not stopped targeting Mr. West.  Her DCCC starting attacking West back in February. Now that she runs the DNC the attacks have not let up. Part of the Democrat game plan is to paint political newbie Patrick Murphy (D-CPA) as a “centrist” or “moderate”. This would explain the contrived political stunts at every Allen West town hall.

This week, the Murphy campaign celebrated the news it has raised $1.1 million dollars since March. Must be a grassroots groundswell, right? Perhaps, little old ladies and young children are emptying their piggy banks at Murphy HQ? Nope.

In a press release, the Murphy heaps praise on Democrat insiders:

Murphy’s campaign has showed significant momentum and this quarter secured support from key Democratic donors such as former DNC Finance Co-Chair Bob Crowe, Richard Swann, Stephen Bittel, Michael and Judy Adler, Alan Kluger, Mitchell Berger, and Chris Findlater.

Hmmm, the name Stephen Bittel sure rings a bell.  Oh yeah, that’s right; from yesterday’s POLITICO story on Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s PAC (DEMOCRATS WIN SEATS PAC).

And though Wasserman Schultz stepped down as chairwoman of the PAC earlier this year, some ties remain. Stephen Bittel, a longtime Democratic supporter, who spoke on behalf of Wasserman Schultz’s candidacy to lead the DNC, has taken over as chairman. Her father, Lawrence Wasserman, is still listed as the group’s treasurer on Federal Election Commission reports. And the political action committee continues to use her initials — DWS — to raise money.

Is DWS PAC openly supporting Murphy? Are other Florida Democrats getting this help? How “moderate” is Patrick Murphy if he has TEAM DEBBIE backing him?

Doesn’t FL Congressional District 20 need and deserve Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s full attention? Why doesn’t she  focus on jobs for south Florida? What doesn’t she explain her support for the huge CCA private prison in Southwest Ranches? Does the DNC and White House  know about her Ahab-esque desire to unseat Congressman Allen West?

Why doesn’t somebody ask her?
