It is no secret Broward Democrats have been desperately trying to find someone to challenge FL State Rep George Moraitis of District 93. Over the last few years prominent Democrats such as Maureen Dinnen, have said no. According to Democrat insiders, in 2010, Democrats were so desperate they allowed uber-lobbyist Judy Stern to run her daughter Barbra Stern in that race.
Now the Broward Democrats are putting Gerri Ann Bongiovanni-Capotosto up against Moraitis. (No word if Judy Stern tempted Capotosto with one of her patented salami sandwiches). Sources say Capotosto is friendly with the usual progressive suspects like Betty DiMaio. Broward Democrats hope to “radicalize” the upcoming races in the hopes of motivating their demoralized base; They will try to paint Moraitis as a “puppet” of Governor Rick Scott.
