In an attempt to curb widespread voter fraud, the Florida legislature passed new laws regarding third-party voter registration drives. The measures, signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott, force third-party groups to register with the State and return voter applications with 48 hours.
Several groups, including the League Of Women Voters, have suspended drives in order to comply with the new laws. Many Democrat groups and politicians have cried foul; They hope to get the courts to overturn the law.
RED BROWARD spotted this voter registration drive in front of the Broward County Courthouse. Obama For America set up a tent and table in the lawn just steps away from the main entrance. The OFA volunteers were soliciting new voters and changes of address for current voters. They had literature from Brenda Snipes( Broward Supervisor of Election) and Obama 2012 cards.
Current records do not show OFA as a licensed third-party permitted to conduct voter registration drives.
One of the OFA volunteers is Maggie Davidson of Pompano Beach. Ms. Davidson is an Area District Leader of The Broward Democrat Executive Committee.
The Broward DEC is not on the State Of Florida list either.
