Karen Harrington Picks Charlie Crist-Loving Vice Chair Who Bashes Rubio, Palin & Tea Party

Karen Harrington, the wannabe leader of Broward Republicans, has picked a running mate who lamented the party of “our great Governor” Charlie Crist had been “hijacked” by “right wing zealots” like Senator Marco Rubio, Governor Rick Scott, Sarah Palin and the tea party. In a letter sent to Broward Republican activists, Harrington announced Alvin Entin as her running mate in the upcoming BREC elections. Harrington writes, “Mr. Entin will make a great contribution to our team as Vice Chairman bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience helping to develop our outreach efforts and implement a winning strategy moving forward.”

Uh oh. Guess Ms. Harrington didn’t read Entin’s blog entitled, Curmudgeons Curious Condrums.

In a September 2010 post, “My Party Has Been Hijacked”, Entin unleashes his inner curmudgeon against Marco Rubio, Bill McCollum, Rick Scott, Sarah Palin and the tea party:

“The results are in from Delaware and another responsible, intelligent Republican has lost a primary election. It shouldn’t have been a contest. A former Governor, a current Congressman and a fiscal conservative with Moderate views on social issues, Mike Castle has lost to a “tea party” candidate whose only apparent qualification was her endorsement by the high priestess of mediocrity, Sarah Palin. A chance to pick up another US Senate seat lost in the transaction. Voters who can read, understand, and appreciate will desert in droves to the Democratic candidate. If I lived in Delaware I would most definitely be with them. After all here in Florida the self same right wing zealots have pushed our great Governor right out of the Republican party. The Republican nominee, Marco Rubio embraced the same close minded segments of the tea party movement as his fulcrum to power, and now must live with the consequences of his unholy arrangement. He will soon discover that the recipe for success in the primaries will not translate to victory in November. To win you must attract independents and moderates, those voters will flock to Governor Crist.”

Wait, it gets better. Entin says he will not vote for Rubio and Scott and he compares conservatives to racist Democrat bigots from the 1960s South:

“I have never been a fan of Bill McCuollum, yet I voted for him in the primary. I held my nose, but I voted for him. I cannot even hold my nose and vote for Rick Scott or Marco Rubio. This isn’t the first time I have felt this way, but it is the first time I cannot stand silent. My party has been hijacked by the kind of mean, small minded people that used to elect the Eastlands, Russells, Maddoxes to high office in the South”

Entin adverstises his blog on his Facebook page. How could Harrington miss it? This is her first big choice?

What “outreach efforts” will she employ if her handpicked vice chair hates tea partiers and our Governor and our US Senator?

In the race for BREC chairman,Harrington is running against the heavily favored and well liked Rico Petrocelli.

Broward Republicans Pounce On Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Israeli Ambassador Lie

Out Of Touch

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Out of Touch) was caught in a gigantic “fib” over a reported conversation with Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren. The Washington Examiner reported a speech where DWS claimed Oren said Republicans were undermining Israeli security. Ambassador Oren denied ever saying that to the DNC chairwoman. Debbie said the conservative website was the liar liar pants on fire. The Examiner produced audio of DWS making those remarks. Debbie said the whole world was lying!

Now, local Republicans are using the latest Debbie Wasserman Schultz public relations fiasco to push for support for Karen Harrington, her Republican opponent in the CD 23 race. Here’s the damning (and very detailed) email from Broward Republican chairman Richard DeNapoli:

BREC LOGO
Debbie Wasserman Schultz says she was misquoted and “didn’t say” that the Israeli ambassador said “what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel.”
..but she DID say that!

and She Earned a “Pants on Fire” from PolitiFact for her Lie!
Find out the whole story &
read excerpts and video from the Miami Herald/PolitiFact below:
Excerpts from the Miami Herald/PolitiFact: Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz found herself on the defensive about comments she made to Jewish supporters on the eve of her party’s convention in Charlotte, N.C. The topic: comments she said were made by Israeli ambassador Michael Oren about Republicans and Israel. …
The debate about what the South Florida congresswoman said began Monday, after Michael Barone at the conservative Washington Examiner wrote about her comments in front of a group of Jewish Democrats.  Here is the exact quote from the Examiner, including a typo and an incomplete phrase in quotes at the end:
“National Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz spoke ans was warmly received as she extolled Obamacare (Democrats are using the term) and said she has heard Israel’s Ambassador Michael Oren say, in her words, ‘what the Republicans is dangerous for Israel.'” …
On Tuesday afternoon, the ambassador reacted to the Examiner report. “I categorically deny that I ever characterized Republican policies as harmful to Israel,” the statement from Oren read. “Bipartisan support is a paramount national interest for Israel, and we have great friends on both sides of the aisle.” …
Wasserman Schultz then went on Fox News Tuesday evening. Fox News repeated her quote about Oren and she responded:

[Transcript of the video above] “I didn’t say he said that,” she said. “And unfortunately, that comment was reported by a conservative newspaper. It’s not surprising that they would deliberately misquote me. …” …

After Wasserman Schultz denied that she made the statement, the Examiner posted about a one-minute audio clip of her speaking at the event [in question].
Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Israeli ambassador called GOP
Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Israeli ambassador called GOP “dangerous for Israel”
Debbie Wasserman Schultz [Transcript from the Audio Clip Above]: “We want you to be armed with the facts. So we are going to give you those facts. We have a one-page document that succinctly describes President Obama’s stellar record on Israel. We have a six-page document as well, because we’re Jews and one page really isn’t enough,” she said which drew laughter from her audience. “And we have a myths versus facts document, which addresses a lot of the typical baloney that is spewed by Republicans. Let me just close by telling you this and sharing this with you. We know, and I’ve heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel. They are undermining Israel’s security by suggesting that the United States and Israel don’t have anything other than a unique and close and special relationship. It undermines Israel’s security to its neighbors in the Arab world and to its enemies. And we need to make sure that the fact that there has never been and will never be daylight between the two parties or the support for Israel that we have in the United States, that that is conveyed to Jewish Americans across this country, that’s our responsibility, and it’s the responsibility we’re asking all of you to take on….” ….
[The PolitiFact ruling]

The Examiner wrote that Wasserman Schultz said: “We know, and I’ve heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel.” …
She said she didn’t make the remark, but the audio clearly shows her making it. …
Her comments about Oren gave the impression that he singled out Republicans for criticism, not that he was commenting on the dangers of politicizing the issue of Israel.

But she did make the remark she said she didn’t make, and we rate her claim Pants on Fire.”
