The United States Supreme Court just issued a 6-3 decision in DOBBS v. JACKSON allowing individual States to determine their own abortion laws.
Here are some reactions from Florida politicians:
“The Supreme Court has returned the power to regulate abortion to the states. Now we need a pro-life plan for post-Roe America.”—Senator Marco Rubio
“The decision to strike down #RoeVsWade is extremely dangerous and tragic. I’m sick and tired of our basic, fundamental right to privacy being politicized. Because of today’s ruling, women will be forced to put their lives on the line, victims of rape and incest will be forced into pregnancy, and we cannot say we control our own bodies in this country. Our daughters and granddaughters have lost a right we fought so hard to protect. But let me be clear: Despite today’s decision, this fight is far from over.”—Congresswoman Val Demmings
“We will not roll back our rights. Let me say it again, so we’re clear. 🗣WE WILL NOT ROLL BACK OUR RIGHTS!”—Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus McCormick
“This decision will have devastating impacts on women in Florida and across our country as nearly 50 years of constitutional protections for abortion come to an end.”—Nikki Fried
“This is an important ruling for the sovereignty of our individual states. Our office will continue working to defend state laws that protect life.”— FL Attorney General Ashley Moody
Javier Manjarres, Republican candidate for the U.S Congress District 22 seat, just landed another big endorsement. The Manjarres campaign announced the support of U.S Senator Marco Rubio. Manjarres, a longtime supporter of Sen. Rubio, hopes to unseat Congressman Ted Deutch (D-Backbencher).
“Javier’s unwavering support for the Constitution, especially his support for the 1st & 2nd Amendments and his steadfast support for the life of unborn children, makes him uniquely qualified to represent Florida’s 22nd District in Congress.
I look forward to working with Javier to introduce and pass meaningful legislation that will continue on the winning pro-American pathway our great nation is currently on.” – Senator Marco Rubio
Last Wednesday, Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC) Chairman Robert Sutton met with White House officials to discuss how local Republicans can help further the agenda of President Donald Trump. The delegation included Sutton, his wife Teresa, BREC Vice Chair Celeste Ellich, SWBRO President Jay Narang and Republican Party of Florida Director of Party Development Brooke Renney. (This reporter also attended the meeting with The White House Office of Political Affairs). In addition to the meetings, the Broward delegation received tours of The White House, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the Rayburn House Office Building, the Longworth House Office Building, and the U.S. Capitol Building.
With the assistance of Senator Marco Rubio, Congressman Brian Mast and Congressman Ron DeSantis, the Broward Republicans were able to watch the U.S. Senate debate the repeal of Obamacare from the Senate gallery. From the House of Representatives gallery, members of the Broward delegation witnessed Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Out Of Touch) declare her opposition to an important defense spending bill. But the real highlight of the trip came when First Lady Melania Trump greeted Chairman Sutton and the other Broward Republicans. You can view highlights of trip by clicking here.
