Florida House Representative Anika Omphroy Paid Mysterious Advertising Firm Tied To Tamarac Commissioner Marlon Bolton And His Church

Anika Omphroy & Marlon Bolton

While State Representative Anika Omphroy (D-Hazelle Rogers is my aunt) faces questions over her failure to file campaign treasurer reports, we do know a few details about her campaign finances. On August 12, 2020, Omphroy received a $100 check from former Tamarac interim city attorney Hans Ottinot. Two days later, Anika Omphroy hired a “campaign marketing” company with close ties to Tamarac City Commissioner Marlon Bolton (D-Bully).

On August 14, 2020, Anika Omphroy paid $2,000 to 100 Volunteers Of Florida for “campaign marketing services. State business records show 100 Volunteers Of Florida was less than a month old when Omphroy paid them. As REDBROWARD previously reported this fictitious Tallahassee-based company is owned by a close business associate of Marlon Bolton.

HAPPY FEET

State business records show 100 Volunteers Of Florida is a fictitious name created by Happy Feet Advertising LLC of Margate.

Happy Feet Advertising LLC is owned by Trace N. Robinson of Margate. The mailing address for Happy Feet Advertising is listed as P.O. Box 451711 Fort Lauderdale, FL 33345.

State business records also show numerous companies owned by Marlon Bolton use the same post office box.

Florida business records show the same post office box address was used by Marlon Bolton since at least 2014. These businesses include Tyson Bolton and Associates, Forecast Holdings, LLC, Prophet Fire, and Win Without War. These same records show Marlon Bolton and Trace Robinson are business partners.

Records list Marlon Bolton and Trace Robinson as owners of The Driven Project, Praise Experience Worldwide Outreach Church, and South Florida Theological Seminary, Inc. The companies also use the same post office box.

Last year, Trace Robinson created the Broward Vision PAC political committee. The address for the PAC is the same post office box used by Bolton.

State of Florida campaign records show Broward Vision PAC paid $1,400 to Exy Consultants, a corporation created under the Happy Feet Advertising LLC name by Robinson. Exy Consultants used the same P.O. Box 451711 address as Marlon Bolton.

Reports show Bolton paid tens of thousands of dollars to Happy Feet Advertising during the 2020 election cycle.

REDBROWARD also revealed North Lauderdale Commissioner Regina Martin paid Happy Feet Advertising during her 2020 campaign. Campaign treasurer reports show Martin paid $14,750 to Happy Feet during the 2020 election cycle.

Last week, REDBROWARD revealed Broward Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott paid $2,000 to Happy Feet Advertising in July 2020.

Pastor Marlon Bolton, aka “Prophet Fire,” repeatedly says he teaches “civic engagement” as his Praise Experience Worldwide Outreach church in North Lauderdale. When declaring it “Marlon Bolton Day,” Broward County Commissioner Dale Holness said Bolton’s church is where you go to get elected.

Did Regina Martin, Joe Scott and Anika Omphroy pay a company with deep ties to Marlon Bolton and his church for “civic engagement?”

Is a church allowed to participate in “civic engagement” funded by politicians, political committees and special interests?

Local Officials Suffer Sticker Shock After Broward Supervisor Of Elections Joe Scott Increases Election Costs By 400 Percent

“MAYBE THEY ARE BUYING NEW OFFICE FURNITURE…”

City officials across the county were shocked when new Broward Supervisor of Elections Joe Scott told them the price tag for the 2022 elections would increase by up to 400 percent. REDBROWARD obtained an email thread of local city clerks discussing the shocking April 1, 2021 news from Scott. While the costs were shocking, these clerks were stunned by the lack of specific reasons and details from Joe Scott.

Lauderdale Lakes usually pays $10,000 for an election. Joe Scott told them the bill for the 2022 election would be $46,600. Scott failed to provide a “breakdown of charges.”

Cooper City paid $14,000 for the last election. Joe Scott said the 2022 election would cost $58,000 an increase of more than 300 percent. “I’m hoping it’s wrong,” A Cooper City official said.

According to Sunrise officials, the estimate for the 2022 election is $115,000 more than the 2020 election. “Yes, $115,000,” the official said.

“My actual estimate was was $148,700,” the Sunrise official said. “Maybe it’s an April Fools joke?”

The City of Lauderhill received a $102,000 estimate for the 2022 election. This is a 75 percent increase over 2020 elections costs.

Election costs for the City of Tamarac will go from $25,000 to $114,000.

A City of Hollywood official wrote, “My estimate was $223,900, my 2020 election was $49,600. Over 351% increase.”

Southwest Ranches residents will see a 400 percent increase for the 2022.

One clerk joked, “Maybe they’re buying new office furniture…”

Another clerk responded, “It’s more like a new building.”

JOE SCOTT BLAMES PREDECESSORS FOR INCREASE

One clerk gave details from a meeting where Joe Scott attempted to explain the huge increases. Scott blamed previous Supervisors of Elections for failing to pass along the true costs of elections, but he gave no specifics.

One week later, the Broward Municipal Clerks Association sent a letter to Joe Scott regarding these price increases. The Association refers to a promised “reassessment” of the cost increases. In addition to this reassessment, the clerks asked for “the formula or methodology that was used to establish the revised costs.”

Forcing local taxpayers to pay insane costs for elections with no explanation of the costs doesn’t sound like something a West Point graduate would do.

Why the lack of transparency?

Did Joe Scott get bad advice from Dale Holness?
