Welcome To Broward: Ann Murray Elected Chair Of Broward County School Board

All Hail The New School Board Chair?

CBS/WFOR MIAMI gives this write up on Ann Murray being elected as Chair of the School Board of Broward County:

“It’s a changing of the guard at the Broward County School Board where members have elected a new Chair and Vice Chair. The new Chairwoman is Ann Murray who represents District 1. Murray began her career with the Broward County Public Schools in 1970 where she worked her way through the ranks in the Transportation Department. She also served as a Broward Teachers Union Shop Steward and Federation of Public Employees Shop Steward. Elected to the School Board in 2008, Murray currently serves on the Board of Directors, Broward Regional Health Planning Council, City of Hollywood General Obligation Bond Oversight Committee and the Broward Democratic Executive Committee.”

Gosh, not even a mention of Ann’s checkered past where she hurled racial epithets? Did Ann’s admission to using racial epithets factor into the Board’s vote?

Or will they hide behind the “she-was-next-in-line-for this-largely-ceremonial-post” excuse? What the hell are the students and parents of Broward County supposed to think?

Cowards.

BTU SCANDAL: Pat Santeramo Was “Event Chair” For May 2009 Alex Sink Fundraiser

It's Pat!

Did Pat Santeramo, disgraced former Prez of BTU, take his role as an “Event Chair” for Alex Sink a bit too seriously? The ongoing investigation should answer the question. For now, here’s an entry from the May 2009 Sun-Sentinel announcing the Alex Sink fundraiser:

“Broward’s political-legal-business-lobbying elite — at least as far as the Democrats are concerned — are joining forces to help the state’s top Democrat raise campaign money.

They’re hosting a Riverside Hotel fundraiser on Thursday for Alex Sink, the state’s chief financial officer. She’s the leading candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, though she hasn’t yet declared for that spot.

The invitation, including the listing of event chairs and hosts — and the amount of dough the different categories are raising — is on the continuation of this blog posting.
