Broward Democratic Party Chair Cynthia Busch is not happy about the “fake” Democrat blue card being handed out at polling places. Earlier this month, REDBROWARD revealed local bee enthusiast Dan Lewis was fined for his earlier version of this ploy to fool voters. Lewis mailed the card twice this month.
On Twitter, Busch said she was “very disappointed to receive reports that Fondo for Sheriff are still handing out misleading palm cards.” Jim Fondo is a paid client of Dan Lewis’ political consulting company JNAC. Lewis insists clients cannot buy their way onto the card.
When the latest Lewis card hit mailboxes two weeks ago, Busch was even tougher. She said,“I want to make it very clear to voters that the Democratic Party is in no way connected to the ‘Blue Card’. This is an underhanded tactic that tarnishes the Democratic process.” Busch added, “I have no knowledge that anyone who appears on the card is responsible for the actions of Mr. Lewis. Candidates should not be unfairly associated with this type of behavior.”
It’s good to see Busch standing up to Lewis. The previous chair, Mitch Ceasar, never complained about Dan Lewis’ campaign tricks.
Unsurprisingly, Mitch Ceasar is another paid client of Lewis. He has paid Lewis tens of thousands of dollars to act as a consultant for his campaign to be the next Broward Clerk of Courts.
