A Broward jury found that the private school owned by Pompano Beach city commission candidate Delvin King owes $61 million dollars to a student beaten in the presence of King. According to court records from January 2021, a student at the Youth Under Construction of Broward County private school was beaten in the office of school principal Delvin King. The armed security guard repeatedly shoved the student to the ground, pushed him and even grabbed him by the neck. King did nothing to stop the altercation.

The entire incident was caught on video.

Alie Joseph, a security guard with State Line Protection Services LLC was arrested on two charges of battery and one charge of open carry of a weapon. Joseph plead no contest. He received probation, community service, anger management classes, gun safety classes. Joseph was also ordered to write letters of apology to the student and his mother.

That wasn’t enough for mom.

In October 2022, the mother, Meldonise Lane filed a civil suit against King’s school and the security company.

Despite being properly served with the lawsuit, neither King’s school nor State Line Protection Services responded to the lawsuit.

Lane and her son won a default judgment against Youth Under Construction of Broward County and State Line Protection Services.

A jury was convened to determine damages to be awarded to Lane.

The jury awarded $123 million dollars to Lane and her son.

Delvin King’s Youth Under Construction of Broward County owes Lane fifty percent of that verdict.

His half is $61,500,000.00.

The final order was delivered in March.

REDBROWARD asked Delvin King for answers. He did not respond to our request for comment. We will update story if King decides to answer questions about this serious matter.
