We knew Debbie Wasserman Schultz was “out of touch” with her own district, but now it looks like she is “out of touch” with her beloved Gator Nation as well. On Thursday morning, The University of Florida alum appeared on the Paul and Young Ron Radio Show on BIG 105.9 to promote a local job fair.
Paul Castronovo, the host, and himself a member of gator nation, kicked off the interview with thoughts on Urban Meyer’s decision to become head coach of the Ohio State football team; Meyer was head coach of the Gators until last season when he stepped down for family and health reasons.
Like most Gators fans, Castronovo was quite unhappy with Meyer’s quick return to coaching. Many see it as a betrayal of the orange and blue. While Debbie called herself a “rabid Gator fan”, ( and who doesn’t love a rabid gator?), she quickly proceeded to defend the man known as “Urban Liar.”
Wasserman Schultz defended Meyer saying coaching was “in (his) blood” and “hard to shake.” She even delved into mind reading when she said Meyer must have thought ” Oh gosh, what have I done?”, referring to his earlier decision to retire.
It should not come as a surprise that Debbie is quick to apologize for bad decisions of public figures. She has spent years apologizing for the blunders of Nancy Pelosi, Anthony Weiner and Barack Obama.
Florida’s US Congressional District 20 needs a full-time leader, not a part-time apologist and political flack.
