Aston Bright tells Plantation voters he is a humanitarian, a leader and a firefighter. Bright, a Democrat, is seeking the group 4 seat on the Plantation city council. But there’s one job Bright is not sharing with Plantation. Bright was the longtime personal assistant to NBA “bad boy” Dennis Rodman.

In a questionnaire for the Sun-Sentinel, Bright was asked to provide his work history over the last fifteen years. He included jobs with pharmaceutical companies and his role as public information officer with the Plantation Fire Department. Bright made no mention of Rodman.

On Linkedin, Bright says he has been employmed with Prince Marketing Group since 2005. But this was not on his Sun-Sentinel questionnaire. There is no mention of celebrity management or Dennis Rodman on Bright’s campaign website.

While it may be a secret to Plantation voters, Aston Bright’s role with Dennis Rodman is well-known in the media.
To the rest of the world, Bright went by AJ not Aston.
AJ Bright never used to be shy about Dennis Rodman.
He spoke about Dennis Rodman on Howard Stern. He talked about Rodman on a TNT documentary. Bright appeared as “Rodman’s Road Manager” on the BET program American Gangster: Trap Queens.
On a 2022 podcast, Bright described life with Dennis Rodman. He described how Rodman exposed his penis at a dinner table during production of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice. Bright talks about Rodman’s trips to North Korea. Bright gives details on a trip to China he took with Rodman.
In a Miami New Times article, Aston Bright shared details on Rodman’s friendship with a drag performer.
“On a Thursday afternoon soon after, the Miami drag queen Elaine Lancaster called Rodman for lunch. They’ve known each other for 30 years, and ‘Dennis will do anything — anything — for Elaine,’ Bright says. Many of Rodman’s outlandish outfits originate with Lancaster.”
In published articles, Bright promoted Dennis Rodman’s Bad Boy vodka line.
So why is this a secret kept from Plantation voters?
REDBROWARD went to the early voting location in Plantation to ask Aston Bright about his role with Dennis Rodman.
Bright said he never disclosed his Rodman work to the Sun-Sentinel because they never asked. When reminded they asked for his resume over last fifteen years, Bright said his twenty plus years in celebrity management was just “part time work.”
He admitted going to China with Rodman around 2013. He admitted going on the Howard Stern show and other podcasts. He admitted appearing on TNT and BET.
But he said his celebrity lifestyle and media appearances has nothing to do with running for Plantation City Council.
When asked why he stopped referring to himself as “AJ Bright,” he said it was a nickname used primarily by family members.
When reminded he went by AJ Bright on recent podcasts and other media and his IMDB entry lists him as “AJ Bright,” Bright stopped talking.

We asked Bright if he was still the public information officer for Plantation Fire, he said yes. But did not answer when asked why a spokesman would refuse to answer questions from the media.
Bright’s opponent, Wayne Clark, provided this comment to REDBROWARD:
“Since our interview with the Sun Sentinel, I have come to learn that AJ “Aston Bright” went to China with Dennis Rodman on a trip. Apparently, this was not disclosed in his candidacy reply to the Sun Sentinel or voters.”
Plantation residents deserve answers.
