Sexual And Bigoted Remarks By Broward Democrat Officials Met With Silence From Party Leaders & Legacy Media

Recent news that two of Broward’s elected leaders made inappropriate sexual and/or bigoted remarks while conducting official business inside City Hall was met with silence from the other lawmakers, Democratic Party officials and even the legacy media. On June 9, 2022, REDBROWARD reported how Tamarac Vice Mayor Elberg Mike Gelin directed two bigoted remarks at fellow Commissioner Elvin Villalobos. One week later, REDBROWARD revealed a Human Resources investigation showed Plantation Councilman Nick Sortal made inappropriate sexual and racial remarks to a longtime city employee.

Both men are on the November ballot in races against incumbent female mayors. Both men, and their opponents, are Democrats. As of today, the Sun-Sentinel wrote about the Sortal investigation. Nothing about Gelin’s anti-Hispanic remarks to Villalobos. Nothing else. No angry statements from lawmakers representing Tamarac and Plantation on the State and local levels. No rebukes from Democrat Party leaders or activists.

Mike Gelin is running against Mayor Michelle Gomez. During a Tamarac Commission meeting, Gelin claimed Villalobos thought “Latin American rules” applied in Florida.

Mike Gelin

“This is America. We have freedom of speech,” Gelin lectured. “That should be explained to the Commissioner who may still think that Latin American rules apply in America. And it doesn’t.”

“Excuse me? Excuse me? What do you mean that it doesn’t apply to Latin America, Vice Mayor?” Villalobos asked.

Later, Gelin stated the City Attorney needed to better educate Commissioners, “Who may not understand how this country is governed.”

While filing his paperwork to run against Plantation Mayor Lynn Stoner, Nick Sortal told a black female deputy clerk that “My dick is hard” for a battle with Stoner. Then, after learning there were no black candidates for Mayor, Sortal said, “Oh good, Plantation will never have a black mayor.”

Even though he admitted to making the comments, Nick Sortal spent a week trying to smear anyone reporting the facts. Despite being a former reporter, Sortal urged his supporters to attack the Sun-Sentinel story by Lisa Huriash. Now, Sortal and his allies want to track down the source of the story even though he made a third admission at last Wednesday’s council meeting.

Nick Sortal

Inappropriate sexual remarks. Bigoted remarks against Hispanics. Bigoted remarks against Blacks. Smear and pressure campaigns against the media.

Yet, crickets from the legacy media and party leaders.

This is not “dirty politics” as Sortal claims. This is no ginned up Republican plot.

These two Democrat men are running against two Democrat women.

These two men made bigoted remarks within their City Halls while conducting official business.

Is there no accountability?

Voters in Tamarac and Plantation have noticed.

Are Democrat Party leaders and media types so out of touch with their local constituents that they think it’s ok to ignore this unacceptable behavior from grown men?

Are Democrat leaders and local media so distracted by Governor Ron DeSantis and national politics that they would allow elected officials to spew sexual and racial comments to females and minorities without consequence?

Shame on them.

VICTIMS DEPORTED: New Report Details How Co-Host Of Tamarac Vice Mayor Elberg Mike Gelin Expungement Event Molested Young Hispanic Men & Avoided Trial

Elberg Mike Gelin stands shoulder to shoulder with Jonathan Bleiweiss

A new report in the Florida Bulldog gives disgusting details how Florida Justice Center (FLJC) founder Jonathan Bleiweiss molested young Hispanic men and still avoided a criminal trial. Last month, REDBROWARD exposed how Bleiweiss co-hosted a City of Tamarac criminal record expungement event with Vice-Mayor Elberg Mike Gelin. Local expungement events are usually coordinated with the Broward State Attorney Office. For some reason, Gelin partnered with Bleiweiss.

When he was a Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputy, Bleiweiss was accused of detaining undocumented Hispanic men and forcing them to perform sexual acts to avoid arrest. The Florida Bulldog documents how Bleiweiss molested the men:

M.C.” and his brother “J.C.” were on bicycles when Bleiweiss approached them, flashed his emergency lights and stopped M.C. “While [Bleiweiss was] inquiring as to M.C.’s relationship status,” the motion says, J.C. rode up to them. Bleiweiss sent him away.

Then Bleiweiss forced M.C. into the back of his patrol car and molested him.

A few days later, Bleiweiss spotted M.C. on a bicycle, stopped him and administered a sobriety test. The deputy dimmed his emergency lights and the bicycle light, had M.C. lean against the patrol car as if for a pat-down, and molested him again.

Afterward Bleiweiss handcuffed M.C. and put him in the back of the patrol car while he wrote something on a piece of paper. Months later, he pulled over another man near the River Oaks Apartments and made him write his name on a notepad.

Bleiweiss would later agree to a plea deal which included prison but no sexual offender label. How did Bleiweiss get so lucky?

According to the Florida Bulldog, five of seven Bleiweiss victims were deported before trial.

In 2019, Prosecutor Neva Rainford-Smith told Florida Bulldog, “I agonized over the case. I know that he did it but without cooperating witnesses, we’re dead in the water.”

In December 2021, Bleiweiss tried to shorten his probation. In a hearing before Broward Judge Marina Garcia-Wood, Bleiweiss’ attorney tried to paint a rosy picture of his client.

The Bulldog reports how Judge Garcia-Wood replied, “And did he tell you the reason he was able to negotiate a plea to a non-sex offense was because the sheriff’s office … systematically rounded up those victims and deported them?”

Gelin ignored pleas from Tamarac residents to cancel the May 14th event with Bleiweiss. A smiling Gelin doubled down by snapping pictures with Bleiweiss at the event. Days later, Gelin posted an Instagram video featuring Bleiweiss.

News of the the deportation of Bleiweiss’ victims comes days after REDBROWARD reported how Gelin launched a bigoted attack on Tamarac Commissioner Elvin Villalobos.

After lamenting how Villalobos created discord at meetings because of a lack of advice by city attorney John Herin, Gelin lectured how Tamarac Commissioners could not “regulate” Tamarac Talk, Tamarac Post nor REDBROWARD. He said this First Amendment concept need to be “explained” to Villalobos.

“Latin American Rules?” Tamarac Vice Mayor Elberg Mike Gelin Makes Bigoted Remarks To Commissioner Elvin Villalobos During Public Meeting

Elberg Mike Gelin Attacks Hispanic Commissioner With Bigoted Remarks

The person making the best case why Elberg Mike Gelin should never be the Mayor of Tamarac is Gelin himself. On Wednesday evening, Gelin and his fellow Tamarac Commissioners were discussing blogs and social media thanks to an agenda item from Marlon Bolton (D-Big Baby). Even though he declared he was “not afraid of blogs,” Bolton wanted to stop Commissioner Elvin Villalobos from asking questions about the fake news website known as “The Tamarac Post.”

Over the last month, Villalobos questioned Bolton’s deep ties to the Tamarac Post as reported by REDBROWARD. Bolton repeatedly shares Tamarac Post attack pieces on Villalobos and Mayor Michelle Gomez. While the cowardly Bolton likes to spread the attacks to Tamarac residents, he clearly does not want to answer for his actions during public commission meetings.

Bolton wanted to bypass city ordinances which allow commissioners to place items on a meeting agenda. Bolton wanted the City Attorney John Herin to make the final decision on whether an item could be placed on a meeting agenda. REDBROWARD previously exposed Bolton’s troubling ties to Herin.

In April, John Herin refused to say why he was handpicked by Marlon Bolton to review a serious legal matter dealing with The Woodlands. REDBROWARD exposed how Tamarac taxpayers paid $7,070 to John Herin for the “odd and irregular” review requested by Marlon Bolton. Since becoming city attorney, John Herin has blocked Tamarac Commissioners and residents from directly criticizing Marlon Bolton and Elberg Mike Gelin at public meetings.

Last night, Bolton wanted to give Herin the ability to keep criticisms and questions regarding Bolton and the Tamarac Post off the agenda for the next 180 days. December. No questions for Bolton or Gelin until the November 2022 election is over. How convenient. “A coincidence,” said Elvin Villalobos.

LATIN AMERICAN RULES

When it was Elberg Mike Gelin’s turn to discuss Bolton’s proposal, he attempted to act above the fray. Gelin lamented how the discord was caused by lack of advice by Herin to commissioners seeking to waste time with issues over which they have no jurisdiction.

Gelin stated that Tamarac Commissioners could not “regulate” Tamarac Talk, Tamarac Post nor REDBROWARD. He said this First Amendment concept need to be “explained” to Villalobos.

Archie Bunker could not have said it better himself.

In the 1970s, these same arguments were used against hispanic immigrants who sought roles in South Florida governments. The old guard in Miami warned that any Cuban American influence in local government would lead to “banana republics.” These same bigoted arguments were used against the first Haitian immigrants who ran for office in North Miami. The bigots use this against any new group who threatens the status quo.

As for Elvin Villalobos, he was born in Nicaragua. In the late 1980s, Villalobos’ family moved to the United States of America. Like many Nicaraguans, Villalobos sought refuge from an ongoing civil war with the Communist-backed Sandinistas.

Elvin Villalobos was 4 years old when he moved to Florida. He went to grade school in Florida. He went to high school here. He picked up a political science degree from a Florida university. Villalobos is a licensed Florida realtor. He speaks two languages. He bought a home in Tamarac. His kids go to school in Tamarac.

What the hell does Elvin Villalobos know about “Latin American rules” Vice Mayor Gelin?

Do you think anyone with a Spanish accent or surname is ignorant about the U.S. Constitution or the American way of life?

Do you think Hispanic residents of Tamarac need a government official or attorney to lecture them on the “American rules?”

What about the Hispanic employees of the City of Tamarac? Do you think they need remedial lessons on American government?

Do your bigoted views of Hispanics affect how Gelin Benefits Group services Hispanic employees of the municipal governments you work for?

What other bigoted views do you hold near and dear to your heart, Vice Mayor Elberg Mike Gelin?

Shame on you.
