Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti Makes History, Gives Thanks To His Volunteers

At a morning press conference in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti announced his campaign had made history. Lamberti is the first county-wide politician to make the ballot via candidate petition. The Supervisor Of Elections verified over 10,000 for Lamberti.  (Over 16,000 petitions were actually collected).

Lamberti stated he was motivated to get the petitions after being told it was impossible to do. Also, he wanted to avoid paying the $11,000 qualifying fee because it was other peoples money.

There was an inspiring moment when Sheriff Lamberti thanked Dania Beach volunteer Betty Sokol. Mrs. Sokol and her husband Dick, both registered Democrats, collected petitions for Lamberti. Mr. Sokol recently passed away, but he was collecting petitions just days before his death.
