Lighthouse Point Candidate Maria O’Donnell Digging Up Dirt On Private Citizens?!?

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any weirder in Lighthouse Point, REDBROWARD obtained documents showing mayoral candidate Maria Corvaia O’Donnell digging up dirt on private citizens. Public records show O’Donnell sought information on eight Lighthouse Point residents. Only two names were public officials: Mayor Glenn Troast and former Broward Health Commissioner Maureen Canada. The other residents were apparently targeted for supporting O’Donnell’s opponent on social media.

On February 28, 2017 Maria O’Donnell submitted her first public records request to the City of Lighthouse Point Clerk.

I would also like to request records on the following individuals:

Maureen Spieker Canada

Christian Spieker

Matthew White

Nicole Burrier White

Vicki Alfani Burrier

Greg Pagans

This records request is for their entire residency. Thank you.

What was Maria Corvaia O’Donnell looking for?

The City of Lighthouse Point Clerk handles requests for police reports. The request was made on the same day her husband was interviewed by Lighthouse Point Police about the unlawful removal of Glenn Troast campaign signs.

Yesterday, REDBROWARD reported Brendan O’Donnell admitted to removing “Re-Elect Mayor Glenn Troast” signs from the yards of his supporters. O’Donnell was caught in the act on a neighbor’s surveillance video camera. Lighthouse Point Police recommended advising the victims on how to file misdemeanor charges.

On Thursday, March 2nd, Maria Corvaia O’Donnell made another public records request.

I’ll reduce my request actually based on the latest information I’ve received:

Marjorie Troast

Glenn Troast

Greg Pagans

Matthew White

Nicole White (same address as Matthew)

Thank you.

The People’s Law

Marjorie Troast, the wife of Mayor Glenn Troast, defended herself after a pro-Maria O’Donnell Facebook page spread false rumors about the mayor’s children and the death of his first wife in a tragic car accident.  The same pro-O’Donnell page falsely accused Greg Pagans’ wife Lynn of operating a pro-Troast Facebook page.

Was the public records request payback for the online comments? Was Maria Corvaia O’Donnell trying to intimidate private Lighthouse Point residents?

We tried to ask her.

MARIA O’DONNELL RESPONDS (SORT OF)

On Friday, we asked Maria O’Donnell about her public records request. In a Facebook message, this reporter asked, “Question: why did you do a PRR for so many private citizens of LHP?”

Her response: “Question: how did you know to go get that police report?” (She’s referring to the police report regarding her husband removing Troast campaign signs).

REDBROWARD stated we do not discuss our reporting techniques or reveal any sources.

Then we asked her, “Why did you make PRR for info on private citizens? What info were you hoping to find? How did you use info?”

She has yet to respond.

Lighthouse Point residents deserve answers before the March 14th election.

Husband of Controversial Lighthouse Point Candidate Maria O’Donnell Tells Police He Removed Opponent’s Campaign Signs

The husband of controversial Lighthouse Point mayoral candidate Maria Corvaia O’Donnell told police he removed her opponent’s campaign signs from yards without permission. According to a Lighthouse Point Police report, a resident reported her “Re-Elect Mayor Glenn Troast sign” was removed from her yard on February 20, 2017. The removal was captured on video by a neighbor.

In the video, “a dark colored pickuo truck that appears to be lifted, has larger than factory issued tires, and has two raised crossbars in the bed of the truck” is spotted approaching the victim’s home. The back of the truck is illuminated by the rear brake lights. A white male exits the truck, waits for a passing car and removes the sign.

Using a License Plate Recognition (LPR) search, police identified the vehicle as a black GMC Sierra pickup truck. Tag information identified the owners of the pickup truck–Brendan and Maria O’Donnell.

On February 28, 2017, Brendan O’Donnell  gave a statement to Lighthouse Point Police. He was informed police had surveillance video, witness statements and LPR results. O’Donnell claimed some residents, “Request[ed] that he removed Re-Elect Troast signs from their yard and replace them with Maria For Mayor signs. Brendan O’Donnell said he “would not have taken any signs unless he was told to do so.”

According the police report, “Mr. O’Donnell confirmed that he remove Re-Elect Glenn Troast sign in the area of NE 49 ST on the date of this incident.

O’Donnell told police that after he removed the Troast signs he realized he did not have any Maria For Mayor signs. He said he intended to replace them with his wife’s signs. Brendan O’Donnell admitted to removing 3 to 4 signs. When told these residents never requested he remove their Troast signs, O’Donnell said he “must have had his directions mixed up.”

Brendan O’Donnell told police he placed the Troast signs in the trash.

During the interview, police discovered Brendan O’Donnell’s driver’s licence had been suspended since August 2016. Police drove O’Donnell home.

The report ends with, “Based on all the evidence and statements obtained, I believe that it is appropriate to provide the victims with misdemeanor case filing instructions.”

Maria O’Donnell Called Lighthouse Point Police To Report Mom & Kids Putting Up Opponent’s Signs

Once again, Maria Corvaia O’Donnell called Lighthouse Point Police to report political opponents’ campaign tactics. O’Donnell, Broward queen of the unhinged campaign rant, is running for Lighthouse Point mayor. On Presidents Day, February 20, 2017, Maria O’Donnell called police to warn them a mom and her two kids were “zipping” around town with Mayor Glenn Troast signs?!?!

Maria O’Donnell’s latest call to the LHP PD was made at 1:32pm on a national holiday. O’Donnell told the dispatcher, “There’s a golf cart running around Lighthouse Point putting Troast signs in the roundabout by the marina and all other public property areas.”

When asked if she got the tag number of the golf cart, O’Donnell said no.

When asked what it looked like, O’Donnell said “I have no idea.”

When asked the color the golf cart, Maria O’Donnell claim clean. She admitted she never saw it.

Maria O’Donnell said, “My friend saw it and then she called me and said you need to call LHP because they’re putting it in medians. And I looked outside and I see a sign in the median.”

O’Donnell could not even give an exact location for the golf cart menace! “You know the roundabout? There’s one there and she’s zipping on east. So she’s headed to the marina,” O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell said the driver was a white female with two children. She said, “I was told she had 2 [kids] and that she was putting signs in public areas.”

O’Donnell never identified her friend. When asked if she wanted an officer to contact her, O’Donnell said, “No, I trust you guys.”

Last week, REDBROWARD exposed O’Donnell’s unhinged rant to a police dispatcher when told the public works department removed her signs from the public right of way.

O’Donnell said, “I don’t know what a right of way means?” O’Donnell asked how many of of her opponent’s signs were picked up. Then Maria O’Donnell demanded to speak to the Chief of Police. “I don’t like these tactics. Who do you report to?” she said.

At one point during the third phone call, Maria O’Donnell stops to yell at her children. “I am on the phone with these people,” she said. “They are attacking me! So give me a break!”

O’Donnell told the dispatcher, “I’ve got a huge mess over here. You know you caused a lot of stress for this family. We’re a Lighthouse Point family. What are you guys trying to do to us?”

During her fourth phone call to police, attorney Maria O’Donnell plays the sexism card. She told the female dispactcher, “I feel discriminated against because I’m a woman. I don’t know why you’re discriminating against me.”

Who does Maria Corvaia O’Donnell think she is? Why does she keep bothering Police with campaign issues?

When her signs were removed, she asked why her Lighthouse Point family was targeted. But on a national holiday, Maria O’Donnell called police to track down a Lighthouse Point mom and two innocent kids on a golf cart.

Maria O’Donnell said she did not witness them doing anything. She used hearsay to file a report against a family because they might be supporting her opponent.

Imagine how those kids felt if the police pulled them over.

We’ve asked Maria O’Donnell for comment numerous times. She has yet to respond.
