Marlon Bolton’s Church Stands To Profit After Tamarac Taxpayers Spend $2 Million Dollars To Buy Dilapidated Clubhouse In Community Where Commissioner Resides

The decision to purchase a dilapidated Tamarac clubhouse for nearly two million dollars could land a hefty payday for a church operated by Commissioner Marlon Bolton. Residents were stunned last week when Bolton and fellow commissioners Kicia Daniel and Morey Wright voted to approve a deal to purchase the obliterated shell of the Shaker Village clubhouse for $1.9 million dollars. Mayor Michelle Gomez and Commissioner Elvin Villalobos voted against the purchase.

As REDBROWARD reported on Monday, Tamarac taxpayers are paying big bucks for the bombed out remains of the community’s clubhouse. Situated along Commercial Boulevard, the Shaker Village clubhouse consists of four cinder block walls, a parking lot and a pool deck. Every window and sliding glass door has been blown out. None of the roof structure remains. There are no interior walls, fixtures, electrical conduits or plumbing. Some warped wooden framing of a closet space is the only thing inside the clubhouse.

BOLTON: SHAKER VILLAGE RESIDENT

Since he was first elected in 2016, Marlon Bolton lived in different properties in Shaker Village. Bolton currently lives in a unit on Ann Lee Lane.

According to Broward County Property Appraiser records, the unit where Bolton lives was purchased in May 2023 by Praise Experience World Outreach, Inc. of North Lauderdale.

According to Florida Corporation records, Marlon Bolton is the director of Praise Experience World Outreach, Inc. This is the same name and address of Bolton’s church.

If the deal to purchase the clubhouse is approved by the Shaker Village Homeowners Association, each property owner would receive a share of the $1.9 million price tag. One Tamarac official estimated each property owner could receive $5,000 from the deal.

In addition to the payments, Shaker Village property values may rise with the removal of an ugly eyesore.

So why did Tamarac City Attorney Hans Ottinot craft a two million dollar deal for this dump and why did Bolton, Daniel and Wright approve it?

Bolton has been a longtime champion of the Shaker Village deal. In 2021, Bolton hosted a carnival-like meeting to discuss the clubhouse deal. A Facebook post by Bolton states free food would be provided to attendees.

What other steps did Marlon Bolton take to make this $1.9 million dollar deal a reality?

Did Marlon Bolton alert anyone that his church may profit from the deal?

Did anyone suggest Bolton recuse himself from voting on this deal?

North Lauderdale Commissioner Regina Martin Reported Campaign Contribution From Relative Living In Home Of Tamarac Commissioner Marlon Bolton?!?

New North Lauderdale Commissioner Regina Martin picked up a campaign contribution from a woman living with Tamarac Commissioner Marlon Bolton, records show. According to City of North Lauderdale campaign treasurer reports, Judith Gelin of Tamarac gave a $1,000 contribution to Regina Martin. Gelin, an nurse, used the same Shaker Village address where Tamarac Commissioner Marlon Bolton lives with his wife.

According to voter registration records, Judith Gelin actually resides at Melrose Park home in Fort Lauderdale. But Gelin uses the Ann Lee Lane as her mailing address.

Other databases show her full name is Judith Gelin Martin.

On her Facebook page, Judith Gelin says she works at Embassy Church of South Florida. Regina Martin is the senior pastor of the Embassy Church of South Florida.

Last week, REDBROWARD revealed Regina Martin received two Federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans using the Ann Lee Lane address of Tamarac Commissioner Marlon Bolton.

State of Florida business records show Regina Martin owns several corporations located at Bolton’s home on Ann Lee Lane in Tamarac. These businesses include Regina Martin Enterprise LLC, House of Baby Doll LLC and Millennium Kingdom International Embassy.

As of January 2021, Marlon Bolton still lived on Ann Lee Lane. Earlier this month, REDBROWARD revealed Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at Bolton’s home on January 26, 2021. BSO deputies responded after Bolton’s wife, Carla Tyson Bolton called BSO regarding a “verbal domestic disturbance.” According to the incident report, Bolton was mad because his wife moved surveillance cameras inside the home. No arrests were made.
