Robert Mondragon, a self-proclaimed body modification “mechanic,” posted pictures of his blood soaked face, clothing and a book on Facebook early last year. On Friday, the Broward Sheriffs Office (BSO) announced Mondragon was arrested for leaving dead animals at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Coral Springs. Officials say Mondragon was obsessed with mass school shootings and murder.

In late 2020, Mondragon abandoned his traditional Facebook profile when he started a new profile under the pseudonym “Mors Mortem.” Mondragon’s last post as “Mors Mortem” was made in late July 2022.

His profile was filled with disturbing imagery. Mondragon often posted information about suicide, autism and the Twisted Metal video game.

On January 26, 2022, Mondragon posted a selfie with the caption, “Dying on the inside, surviving on the outside.“ Mondragon is wearing a Henry D. Perry Education Center lanyard around his neck. It is unclear if the photograph was taken inside the school.

On February 5, 2021, a disturbing selfie shows Mondragon’s face and tshirt covered in blood. Another photograph posted that day shows pages of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho novel smeared with blood.

It’s amazing that someone from the neighborhood, or his family, didn’t bring him to the attention of law enforcement even sooner. I mean could the phrase “see something, say something” have been any more readily apparent with this guy?

The American dream was originally for religious families of good moral character who practiced self-governance while enjoying liberty and serving God. Nowadays, we have pond scum like this guy. Sigh.

Not sure which “American dream” you’re speaking about, much less one based on “religious families of good moral character.” Maybe the “new [only happy events] history” being proffered out of Tallahassee and a few other state capitols these days. However, there were any number of scoundrels and criminals that either fled, or were more or less involuntarily put on vessels, to America to escape their lot in life in Europe (or simply to be booted out). And, there were many well documented gangs that either controlled entire neighborhoods in various early cities as well as any number of violent acts in the vast wilderness. So, those that you refer to as “pond scum” have existed for hundreds of years in this country (even the KKK comes to mind among many others of more recent vintage). But, yes, we sadly have those amongst us now too and thankfully, on occasion, they are caught before they unleash any new chaos.
