Under Investigation For Election Law Violations, State Rep. Anika Omphroy Already Picked Up Six Violation Letters For 2022 Campaign

State Representative Anika Omphroy

Since running opposed in 2018, State Representative Anika Omphroy (D-Hazelle Rogers Is My Aunt) has received 119 notices from the Florida Department of Elections regarding campaign reporting violations, records show. During her 2020 campaign, Omphroy received 41 letters for failing to file reports documenting campaign contributions and expenditures. On Friday, REDBROWARD broke the news Broward State Attorney Harold Pryor recused himself from an investigation into Omphroy’s election law violations.

Governor DeSantis issued an executive order after Pryor asked Governor Ron DeSantis to reassign the matter to Miami- Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. Pryor asked to be disqualified to avoid the appearance of any impropriety since Omphroy was a donor to his 2020 election.

Even though her campaign received 98 letters from the State of Florida regarding violations during the 2020 elections, it appears Anika Omphroy has not learned any lessons.

Less than one month after filing her paperwork for the 2022 election, Anika Omphroy picked up her first “fail to file” letter of the new year. The March 11, 2021 letter is one of six “fail to file” letters sent to the 2022 Omphroy campaign.

When she ran unopposed in 2018, Omphroy still received 15 letters from the State of Florida. In 2020, Omphroy picked up 41 “fail to file” letters, 32 fine letters and 4 orders from the Florida Elections Commission.

During all three elections, the letters from the State begin within thirty days of Omphroy opening her campaign.

Maybe Omphroy should hire a new campaign treasurer?

Oh wait, Omphroy has served as treasurer for her three campaigns.

Why can’t Anika Omphroy file the legally required paperwork?

Voters deserve to know who is funding her campaigns, right?
