Jim Lewis, Republican candidate for Broward State Attorney, hosted a holiday celebration at the World Famous Parrot Lounge on Fort Lauderdale. Lewis is challenging Mike Satz (D-Sgt Schultz) who was first elected in 1976. Several in attendance did not want to be photographed for fear of retribution from Sgt Satz. However everyone was in agreement that it was time for Satz to go.
Other than his too-long tenure, most mentioned Satz’s poor handling of public corruption and his office’s indifference to the minority community as reasons to vote him out. One Democrat Attorney told RED BROWARD that Lewis would have support from across the political spectrum.
Lewis told RED BROWARD he intends to give Satz the toughest challenge he has ever faced; Lewis said he is willing to back that up with $150,000 his own money and challenges Satz to do the same.
Lewis said he would add $50,000 to his campaign coffers after the holidays.
