Many expected Broward Democrat Alan Berkowitz to throw his hat into the Broward School Board District 4 race. Berkowitz, employed by the Broward Sheriff’s Office, is a well-connected political player.

However, sources tell RED BROWARD Berkowitz will pass on the race. So far, Democrats Jaemi Levine and Robert Mayersohn have jumped into the race; Both of them ran for Stephanie Kraft’s old seat in 2010.

GOP newcomer Louis Kushner is running his first campaign for the chance to replace Dave Thomas. Mr. Thomas abruptly resigned his seat late last year.
