Does anyone know how much Tamarac taxpayers are spending to sponsor a Jamaican benefit concert Saturday night? The City of Tamarac is listed as one of the “partners and sponsors” of the One Love Jamaica Rebuilding Concert at the Faith Center church in Sunrise. Other partners include the City of Lauderhill and the Jamaican government.
Special guests and speakers include Jamaican diplomat Oliver Mair, Broward County Commissioner Hazelle Rogers and Tamarac Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel.
Earlier this week, REDBROWARD revealed Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel never disclosed her relationship with The Faith Center when she asked fellow commissioners to redirect up to $72,000 to a charity operated by the church. Daniel failed to disclose that she operates a private Christian school at the Faith Center.
Kicia Daniel is featured prominently on the advertising for the Faith Center concert.

Why is the City of Tamarac partnering with a foreign government to host a concert at a Sunrise church?
Last month, at the urging of Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel, Tamarac commissioners redirected up to $72,000 in public tax dollars from a well-established charity that assists senior citizens to a Sunrise church that houses her private Christian academy. Daniel asked commissioners to fund a food pantry the church operates under the “Dare To Care” name. Daniel complained that the Area Agency On Aging Of Broward County (ADRC) was not responsive to her staff. Daniel never disclosed her relationship with The Faith Center Church in Sunrise.
During the November 12, 2025 commission meeting, Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel asked commissioners to “split” the annual $72,000 payment the City made to ADRC with Dare To Care. Daniel said she has been “sending her residents to Dare To Care” for food assistance during the government shutdown.
When administrators said it may be impossible to take the money from ADRC, Daniel said “time for a change.”
Commissioner Marlon Bolton, a staunch Daniel ally, wanted to drag the ADRC before the Commission. He said the ADRC failed to correct a bedbug problem facing a local resident. Bolton said giving tax dollars to Dare To Care was a “no brainer.”
“Dare To Care is an amazing organization,” Bolton said. “They are deserving of getting assistance from the City to continue the work that they do.”
Bolton moved to halt all payments to ADRC until they make a presentation to the Commission. If the ADRC fails to prove their worthiness, the Commission voted to give the full $72,000 to Dare To Care. Only Mayor Michelle Gomez voted NO.
SUNRISE MEGA CHURCH?
According to State of Florida records, Henry Fernandez is the president of The Faith Center church in Sunrise.
State records show Henry Fernandez is the Director of Dare To Care, Inc. located at 4085 NW 16th Street in Lauderhill. This property, a former strip mall and movie theater, is also the home of the University Of Fort Lauderdale.
State records list Henry Fernandez as the Chairman of the University of Fort Lauderdale.
IMMACULATE RESULTS?
Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel, a retired Broward Schools principal operates the Immaculate Results Christian Academy in Sunrise. According to the school’s website, Immaculate Results Christian Academy is located at The Faith Center Church at the site of the former Sunrise Musical Center.
Tuition at Daniel’s kindergarten through eighth grade school is not cheap. According to the website, tuition is $10,000 per year. But scholarships are available.
REDBROWARD wanted to know why Kicia Daniel never disclosed her relationship with The Faith Center when she asked her fellow Commissioners to fund the Church’s food charity.
She has not responded to our request.
