Donald Trump Welcomes Broward State Rep. Hillary Cassel To Republican Party

President-elect Donald Trump welcomed Florida State Representative Hillary Cassel to the Republican Party in a Saturday social media post. Trump’s Truth Social post was shared on X/Twitter one day after the Broward politician announced her departure from the Democrat Party. Cassel represents House District 101 which includes parts of southeastern Broward.

Trump welcomed Cassel and urged other Democrats to join the Republican Party.

Following her announcement on Friday, several prominent Broward Democrat Party operatives took to Facebook to voice their displeasure with Cassel. One Party member called Cassel a “traitor,” while another urged people to unfriend her.

Congratulations to Hillary Cassel for becoming the second State Representative from the Great State of Florida to switch her Party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, once more expanding the GOP Supermajority in the State House! Florida State Representative Hillary Cassel is leaving the Democrat Party. Cassel, who represents southern Broward, announced she was joining the Republican Party. Cassel made the announcement Friday.

Saying she did not make the lightly, Cassel mentioned growing antisemitism in the Democrat party as a reason for her switch.

“I have been increasingly troubled by the Democratic Party’s failure to unequivocally support Israel and its willingness to tolerate extreme progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism,” Cassel said.

She said she can no longer remain in a Democrat Party that “doesn’t represent my values.”
