Speaking at the monthly gathering of the Broward GOP, US Senate candidate Mike McCalister vowed not to “sling mud” in his race to challenge Senator Bill Nelson (D-Sleepy). He was referring to the ongoing feud between George LeMieux and Connie Mack.
McCalister stated such negative campaigning only helps Democrats and the media.
In a conference with new media types, George LeMieux questioned whether Congressman Connie Mack is fit to be a US Senator. He referenced media reports on Mack “financial misconduct” as well as his “Charlie Sheen”-like bar fight and road rage incidents.
LeMieux said this needs to be examined because Mack “couldn’t get a job as a police officer, a teacher or a bank officer with this background”. LeMieux stated Mack has his own “Charlie Crist problem”; He claims Mack failed to endorse Marco Rubio for months after Crist left the GOP. LeMieux endorsed Rubio the day after Crist left the party.
