Marlon Bolton may be running for re-election in November, but right now he is campaigning on behalf of Coastal Waste and Recycling—a company that made large contributions to a PAC tied to Bolton. In an email blast to Tamarac residents, Bolton bashes the current company that handles garbage collection in the city. Bolton urges residents to watch a YouTube video.

The video, set to the Pink Panther theme, documents Bolton’s past interaction with the crew of a disabled Waste Management vehicle. Bolton declares Tamarac deserves better.

Just one problem.

In a rushed attempt at damage control, Bolton misspelled better as “brtter.”

Guess Happy Feet didn’t use any of that $50K on spellcheck software.

Hello XXXX,

I am writing to you today in response to the recent email from “WM” regarding their waste collection services. While WM has served our community for many years, I believe it is time for a change.

Here’s why:

  • WM’s proposed prices are too high for Tamarac taxpayers, with a total cost of $83,431,021.80.YES, more than 83 million Dollars!
  • There have been too many complaints from Tamarac residents regarding missed trash pickups and more.
  • Coastal Waste & Recycling, their competitor, scored an impressive 94.20 points in the evaluation process, demonstrating their commitment to excellence.
  • The City Commission directed staff to issue a Best and Final offer to get a better price from the companies who are bidding on the contract, WM, Waste Pro, and Coastal. Coastal Waste and Recycling submitted the lowest price with superior customer service, saving YOU MILLIONS!
  • The City of Coral Springs has already made the switch to Coastal Waste and Recycling, and they will enjoy superior service at a fraction of the cost. Why shouldn’t Tamarac?
  • Coastal Waste and Recycling is the only company testing electric vehicles for collection services and promises to provide all new trucks for our community.
  • Unlike WM, Coastal Waste and Recycling will not use subcontractors, ensuring uninterrupted service for our residents with 100% accountability.

I urge you to research this issue before emailing the City Commission to express support for any company.

I remain committed to looking out for Tamarac residents and holding the city accountable for contracting with a company that provides stellar customer service, newer trucks, and superior service at a fraction of the cost.

I believe it is time to lower your tax bill and join other smart cities like Wilton Manors, Davie, Pompano Beach, Coral Springs, and others in making this positive change for our community.

Nick Sortal Admits (Again) Making Sexual and Racial Comments To City Employee But Claims Mayor Is The Real Racist In Bizarre Email

Forget Clintonian, Plantation City Councilman Nick Sortal has gone full Richard Nixon in a bizarre Thursday afternoon email to the HR department. Earlier in the day, REDBROWARD reported how Democrat Sortal employed Clintonian tactics by attacking the longtime black female deputy clerk as a liar after her complaint against Sortal. The whistleblower claimed Sortal made inappropriate sexual and racial remarks to her at City Hall. In one remark, Sortal said “Oh good, Plantation will never have a black mayor.”

An official document prepared by City officials stated that Sortal admitted making the comments. On Thursday, Sortal told the Sun-Sentinel the whistleblower lied about the racial comment. Sortal said the allegation that he also made a racial comment to [the deputy clerk] is “a lie. That never, ever happened. I’m not that kind of person.”

“I feel it’s all about politics,” Sortal said. “I want to keep my focus. I’m not getting down in the mud. That’s not who I am.”

Earlier today, REDBROWARD published the memorandum. Sortal admits to making the comments as well as stating he was friends with employee for four years. The whistleblower even stated how Sortal blamed Stoner for her lack of promotion to the City Clerk position.

So why would the whistleblower lie about Sortal?

Well, now Sortal says the whistleblower was not lying.

Two hours after REDBROWARD published the memorandum, Nick Sortal sent a bizarre email to the City of Plantation Human Resources department.

Sortal wrote:

I would like this added to the file regarding conversations between [the whistleblower] and me.

It is true.

Then, Nick Sortal claims he went to see the whistleblower after she failed to get a promotion.

Sortal claims the whistleblower said, “Stoner is a racist.”

Ok.

First,Sortal admits to making the inappropriate sexual and racial comments. He says it will not happen again.

After the remarks are made public, Sortal tells a student reporter the comments are “inaccurate.”

One day later, Sortal tells the Sun-Sentinel the accusation is a “lie.”

Two hours later, Sortal goes back to admitting everything but wants you to think his opponent is a racist too.

This behavior is unhinged. Unprofessional. Misogynistic.

Every time Sortal says something a labor attorney sees dollar signs. Dollar signs financed by Plantation taxpayers.

And Nick Sortal still wants to be the Mayor?

The emperor truly has no clothes.
