Robert Sutton, a Broward School District high school teacher of the year and vocal critic of the corruption in Broward Schools, was named one of the Walmart People Making A Difference.

Sutton, a former candidate for Broward School Board District 4, is deeply involved in teaching local students about business and entrepreneurial skills. He tells RED BROWARD he’s deeply honored to be recognized for helping Broward’s young business people.

This summer, the City of Sunrise honored Sutton for his teaching as well.

Sutton said he is disgusted by the investigations of the BTU; Now, he understands why the BTU was dismissive of his attempts to protect teacher paychecks. He turned to Broward GOP chairman Richard DeNapoli for help. Their efforts helped save teachers 3% of their paychecks.

Sutton said he was seriously considering another run for the School Board next year.

Who Let Parkland Create Its Own Shadow School Board???

“Does all the money I donate go to Parkland Schools?
Yes, your money goes directly into Parkland’s Public Schools.  The Parkland Fund Board of Directors determines how donations are allocated and donors are able to earmark their donation to specific schools or programs in accordance with the Parkland Fund’s mission and vision.  The only portion that is withheld is a 4% administrative fee provided to the Broward Education Foundation as the fiduciary agent and pays for all tax filings and accounting costs related to financially administering the Parkland Fund.  The Parkland Fund does not have any overhead costs or salaries to pay and all work done by the Board of Directors is on a voluntary basis.”
