The fine grassroots folks behind “Awake The State” targeted November 1 as a day for statewide rallies proving that Floridians were mad as hell. Who is “Awake The State”? Their website claims:
“Awake The State is an organic, grassroots movement of everyday Floridians fighting to reject devastating budget cuts, stop the assault on middle class families, and invest in Floridians again. We’re rallying November 1st to mobilize Florida’s middle class: to fight Rick Scott’s extremist anti-middle class agenda, stop his puppets in the Legislature, and return middle class values and priorities to our government in 2012.”
Organic? More like AstroTurf. Awake the State was cooked up by a young Democrat operative for a Broward County commissioner. Their first rallies, dominated by Democrats and union types, were blatant attempts to demonize Florida Governor Rick Scott.
The Broward rally was moved to Plantation due to flooding at the original location. RED BROWARD was ready to report thousands of moms and kids marching in the streets, businessmen waving jazz hands and chanting about direct democracy. We even expected hippies using police cars as toilets.
So what did we find? About 20 of the usual Democrat types. Plenty of union representation including Maggie Zalamea of the Broward Teachers Union. Other political operatives were in attendance like Terry Scott of Deerfield Beach fame.
Most surprising was the “moderate”, “centrist” and “CPA-like” Patrick Murphy. Mr. Murphy is Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Out Of Touch) choice to battle Congressman Allen West(R-Plantation). Perhaps Team Debbie is reading the polls showing the Democrats have lost the middle and they’re sending Murphy to build his leftist credentials.
Last week, Murphy sent out emails praising the “progressive” values of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Perhaps they would love his “capitalist” idea of selling tea party inspired mugs.
Mitch and the gang cannot be happy with the lack of attendance at this rally. Other rallies across the state were better attended. Could the Democrat bloom be off the Broward rose? Stay tuned…

Funny, if you really knew anything you’d know that the “operative” you mentioned wasn’t even involved in this rally because of his upcoming wedding. Speaking of the “bloom coming off the rose,” how’s being the third-place party behind independents working out for you guys?
He wasn’t “involved”? So,you’re saying he was not in attendance?
He was neither involved nor in attendance.
So the guy in beige leisure suit and long hair was someone else?
LOL definitely not.
Guess we should post pics just to make sure.
