Thin Skinned Tamarac Commissioners Vote To Hire Independent Investigator To Find Out Who Leaked Memo To Sun-Sentinel

Still smarting from a Sun-Sentinel exposé, thin-skinned Tamarac Commissioners Elberg Mike Gelin and Marlon Bolton lead the charge for the hiring of an independent investigator to determine who leaked a memo to the media. Vice Mayor Elvin Villalobos and Commissioner Debra Placko joined them by voting to hire someone to ferret out who warned residents about an amendment to increase Commissioners’ travel budget. Only Mayor Michelle Gomez voted against this insane move.

The move came close to midnight on Wednesday. Last week, Elberg Gelin and Marlon Bolton spent more than two hours attacking the Sun-Sentinel over the same story.

Tamarac Interim City Attorney Fails To Mention His $2,500/month Legal Consultant Contract With City Of North Miami

Tamarac Interim City Attorney Hans Ottinot failed to disclose his lucrative legal consulting contract with the City of North Miami when applying for the permanent position. REDBROWARD obtained the November 2020 contract between HLA Consulting Group LLC and North Miami for legal consulting on matters involving private/public partnership developments and other land use issues. HLA Consulting Group LLC receives $2,500 per month for the contract which runs through September 2021. Florida business records show Hans Ottinot created HLA Consulting Group LLC in November 2020.

A review of Hans Ottinot’s bid to be the permanent Tamarac City Attorney shows no mention of HLA Consulting Group LLC or its lucrative deal with the City of North Miami.

Ottinot’s resume shows he served as North Miami city for two months in 2005.

And that’s it.

None of Ottinot’s professional references are from the City of North Miami.

None of Ottinot’s client references are from the City of North Miami.
