Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony And Command Staff Flying First Class Around The World

Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony flew first class to Romania
Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony’s pricey trip to Brazil

Broward Sheriff Gregory spent the last six months begging, cajoling and (some say) bullying Broward County and local municipalities to add more money to his budget. Tony claims the money is desperately needed to pay employees being squeezed by living costs in South Florida. From the Sheriff’s demeanor at public meetings and social media, one might think it is penny-pitching time at BSO, right?

Not when it comes to Gregory Tony’s globetrotting.

REDBROWARD obtained travel records for overseas trips by Sheriff Tony and his command staff.

In September, Tony plastered his official social media accounts with pictures from his trip to Romania. Tony’s travelogue included a visit to the Romanian border with Ukraine.

One thing Tony never mentioned was the cost of the trip.

According to the records, Sheriff Tony’s penny-pinching ways stopped at the county line.

Tony and two members of his staff flew first-class from Miami on Delta Airlines. Tony & Co. flew to Atlanta where they caught another first-class flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

In Germany, the guys hopped aboard a Tarom Airlines flight to Bucharest.

Eight days later, Tony flew on Tarom Airlines to Amsterdam. Once in Amsterdam, Tony boarded a first-class flight to Detroit, Michigan and then a connecting flight to Miami.

The price Tony’s first-class tickets was $5,785.61 round trip.

The total cost for the three BSO bigwigs was $17,314.83 round trip.

Earlier this year, Sheriff Tony and a BSO Colonel made a pricey trip to Brazil.

Two tickets on Azul Airlines were $7,831.44 round trip.

Once again, Tony documented his pricey trip on official BSO social media.

If money is so tight at BSO, why is Sheriff Tony and staff buying first class tickets?

If money is tight, why is Sheriff Gregory Tony flying to Romania, Brazil and elsewhere?

BSO insiders believe the trip was funded by a charity associated with BSO.

Nobody at BSO had a better use for the $25K spent on first class travel?

“UNWARRANTED SHADOW:” Police Chief Blasts Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony For Making “False Statements” About Pembroke Park Police

Pembroke Park Police Chief Daniel DeCoursey

Pembroke Park Police Chief Daniel DeCoursey blasted Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony for making “false statements” about his department during a Friday morning press conference. DeCoursey was joined by several of members of the Pembroke Park P.D. as well as union representatives.

DeCoursey said he was “discouraged and astonished” by disparaging remarks made by Sheriff Tony last Wednesday.

Declaring that police work is not a game, DeCoursey said Sheriff Tony cast an “unwarranted shadow” on the men and women of the Pembroke Park Police Department.

DeCoursey said Tony made “false statements” about former BSO employees now working for Pembroke Park. DeCoursey denied Tony’s allegations that the former BSO employees were fired for misconduct.

He said Tony lied about BSO handling a “majority of calls” in Pembroke Park, residents begging for BSO to return to the town and allegations that Pembroke Park Police are understaffed.

Andrew LaFramboise, a Broward FOP union representative, reiterated that his membership never participated in a “no confidence” vote regarding Deerfield Beach City Manager Rodney Brimlow.

As REDBROWARD first reported, Tony attacked Brimlow last Wednesday during a district wide teleconference. Tony’s remarks sparked an inquiry by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
