Video posted on Oprah Winfrey’s Instagram page shows the media mogul received the “key to the City” from Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis at the conclusion of her day long seminar on Saturday. The presentation comes at the end of many videos taken during “Oprah’s Vision 2020 Tour” at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL. There are no videos of Winfrey receiving the key to the City of Sunrise or any other Broward city.
The time (5:30pm) is stamped on the Trantalis video. Earlier, REDBROWARD posted video of Trantalis speaking with Oprah during a “workbook” exercise at the seminar. Trantalis was seated near the stage, along with his director of community outreach.
According to other videos, Oprah took the stage at 10:00am and departed the arena at 6:00pm.
Did Trantalis and his taxpayer-paid staffer spend the entire day with Oprah? Did he manage to visit the sewer-spills in Rio Vista and Victoria Park?
Just an hour after our original story was published, Trantalis finally posted a picture with Oprah on his official Facebook page. There were no pictures with residents affected by the 127 million gallon sewage spill.
While Fort Lauderdale residents and city workers continued the clean up of six recent major sewer line breaks, Mayor Dean Trantalis had more pressing business to attend to. Dean Trantalis spent his Saturday with Oprah Winfrey. Trantalis secured very pricey seats to the kickoff of “Oprah’s 2020 Vision: Your Life in Focus” at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. The day-long self-help seminar featured Oprah Winfrey and guests Lady Gaga and Julianne Hough.
