AP reporting Craig Miller will announce his bid for US Senate. Miller, former CEO of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, appeared last month on Fox News touting his business experience.

“Miller, who placed third in a five-way race for Congress last year, plans to fly around the state with stops in Orlando, Tampa, Naples, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville to make the announcement.”

“Miller was forced to leave Ruth’s Chris in 2008 after the chain’s profits dropped and stock value fell nearly 70 percent. He was given a $2.4 million severance package, the Orlando Sentinel reported at the time. He previously served as CEO of Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. He also had volunteered for the Air Force during the Vietnam War.”

Haridopolos’ Ballot Initiative: Hold Constitutional Convention For Balanced Budget Amendment

FL Senate President Mike Haridopolos has introduced a ballot initiative calling for a Constitutional Convention to be held. Senate Concurrent Resolution 4 would call the convention to formulate a balanced budget amendment.

“These are critical times for our country. The federal government is $14 trillion in debt and leaders in Congress needed the threat of a government shutdown before making a modest reduction in the country’s deficit,” said Senate President Haridopolos. “My call for a constitutional convention comes out of concern that our leaders in Washington won’t do what Florida and other states already do – balance the budget. This resolution is an attempt to force them to do what’s right to save America’s future.”
