Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos has ended his US Senate campaign.
“Today, I am announcing that I will no longer be a candidate for the United States Senate, nor will I seek any other office this year or next. Instead, I am re-dedicating myself to finishing the job you sent me to do here in Florida. This was a very difficult decision for me, and my family, but this is the right decision. To those who have supported me in my race for Senate, know that while I may be ending this campaign, I will not give up the fight.”
In this YouTube video, Haridopolos vows to not seek any other office this year or next year.
AP reporting Craig Miller will announce his bid for US Senate. Miller, former CEO of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, appeared last month on Fox News touting his business experience.
“Miller, who placed third in a five-way race for Congress last year, plans to fly around the state with stops in Orlando, Tampa, Naples, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville to make the announcement.”
“Miller was forced to leave Ruth’s Chris in 2008 after the chain’s profits dropped and stock value fell nearly 70 percent. He was given a $2.4 million severance package, the Orlando Sentinel reported at the time. He previously served as CEO of Uno Restaurant Holdings Corp. He also had volunteered for the Air Force during the Vietnam War.”
Allen West delivered the keynote address at Saturday’s Grand Old Party BBQ in Weston. West urged the 500 Republican activists to work hard so we could send President Barack Obama “back to Chicago.” West’s campaign gathered over 400 signatures to get his name back on the ballot.
The event was held at the Bergeron Ranch in Weston. The guests were entertained by a reenactment of the OK Corral shootout and various cowboy events.
But the real entertainment was provided by the numerous politicians in attendance. Broward commissioner Chip LaMarca urged the crowd to send him some Republican help on the commission. LaMarca introduced Sheriff Al Lamberti who is running for re-election in 2012.
Florida CFO Jeff Atwater told everyone that Tallahassee does not need anymore of their money thanks to the budget prowess of the Florida Legislature and Governor Rick Scott. Atwater mentioned his endorsement of Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos in the U.S. Senate race.
All four Republicans candidates for the U.S. Senate, (Mike Haridopolos, Adam Hasner, George LeMieux and Mike McAllister), spoke of the need to send Bill Nelson into retirement.
