Marlon Bolton served as the mediator in a legal case against the husband of fellow Tamarac Commissioner Kicia Daniel, Broward court records show. In July 2023, LVNV Funding LLC sued Mark Daniel over a credit card debt. A mediation hearing in the case was held in December 2023.
The Florida Courts website defines mediation as, “[A] way for people who are having a dispute to talk about their issues and concerns and to make decisions about the dispute with the help of another person (called a mediator). A mediator is not allowed to decide who is right or wrong or to tell you how to resolve your dispute.”
The website states, “Mediation provides an opportunity to talk with someone who is impartial.”
According to court records, Marlon Bolton served as the mediator between LVNV Funding and Mark Daniel.
In 2022, Marlon Bolton played an integral role in Kicia Daniel’s election to the Tamarac City Commission. By December 2023, Bolton and Daniel had spent nearly a year together as Tamarac Commissioners.
Last week, REDBROWARD revealed Marlon Bolton dubbed Kicia and Mark Daniel as the “Queen and King of Tamarac.”
Bolton made the comments at his “Key To The Region” event on June 7th in Fort Lauderdale.
Bolton gave an award to Mark Daniel at the same event.
While accepting the award, Mark Daniel heaped praise upon Marlon Bolton.
“I want to thank the Honorable Marlon Bolton, a friend that I admire the most,” Mark Daniel said. “I call him the GOAT.”
Daniel said, “Anybody wanna win, go see Marlon.”
Later, Daniel continued his praise. “[Bolton] is a person I admire diligent for his strong work ethics and demonstrates strength day in and day out.”

The Florida Courts website gives guidance to situations where a mediator may be acquainted with a party to a lawsuit.
Addressing whether a friend or relative can serve as a mediator, the website states:
“Whether someone may mediate for you depends on the connection that person has to either the case or the people involved in the mediation. Because a mediator must be both neutral and impartial, the mediator should not have any close connection to anyone in the dispute or anyone participating in the mediation. If the mediator does have such a close personal or business connection, (examples: parent, employee, landlord) the mediator may not mediate that dispute. If the connection is not close, then the mediator must disclose the connection. If you recognize any connection or relationship to the mediator, you must disclose the connection as soon as you are aware of the connection. Once the connection is disclosed, if all parties agree, the mediator may serve.”
