Brian Mast: Republican Candidate For US Congress CD18 Talks Veterans Issues

Last September, True Broward TV spoke with Brian Mast, candidate for U.S. Congress (FL-18). For his service in Afghanistan, Mast was awarded medals for Valor, Merit, and Sacrifice, including The Bronze Star Medal, The Army Commendation Medal for Valor, The Purple Heart Medal, and The Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

Mast talks about his support for veterans groups such as Stand Out and Honor Flight. As a wounded veteran and double amputee, Mast is fully aware of issues veterans face at VA hospitals. He’s running against Democrat Randy Perkins on the November ballot.

Game Of Thrones? Congressman Allen West Move Gets Broward Politicos Scrambling

"And a very small man can cast a very large shadow."

Yesterday’s surprise announcement by Congressman Allen West set off an earthquake in Broward county. West is moving to Congressman Tom Rooney’s more Republican-friendly district in northern Palm Beach and Martin county.

Adam Hasner quickly withdrew from the U.S. Senate race to pursue West’s old Congressional seat. GOP sources told RED BROWARD Allen West would endorse Hasner’s bid for CD-22.  So everything is settled, right?

Nope. Even before West’s announcement, published reports claimed local Democrats were trying to pressure Lois Frankel (D-No Chance) to drop out of the race; Democrats believed Patrick Murphy (D-Erin) had a better chance at beating West. But now what?

Murphy is a political lightweight in Broward Democrat circles. The Broward DEM heavyweights were afraid to challenge West (even in a more Democrat friendly district). These “brave” politicians do not have the same fear of Adam Hasner.

Today, published reports claim Broward County Commissioners John Rodstrom and Kristin Jacobs (D-“Fair”) are eyeballing the race. Other rumors claim Republican Chip LaMarca is mulling his options as well. We’ve also heard about some CD-20 candidates rethinking their bids against Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Out of Touch).

Let the games begin…
