Does anyone know how much Tamarac taxpayers are spending to sponsor a Jamaican benefit concert Saturday night? The City of Tamarac is listed as one of the “partners and sponsors” of the One Love Jamaica Rebuilding Concert at the Faith Center church in Sunrise. Other partners include the City of Lauderhill and the Jamaican government.
Special guests and speakers include Jamaican diplomat Oliver Mair, Broward County Commissioner Hazelle Rogers and Tamarac Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel.
Earlier this week, REDBROWARD revealed Vice Mayor Kicia Daniel never disclosed her relationship with The Faith Center when she asked fellow commissioners to redirect up to $72,000 to a charity operated by the church. Daniel failed to disclose that she operates a private Christian school at the Faith Center.
Kicia Daniel is featured prominently on the advertising for the Faith Center concert.
Are any of these funds being used for this concert?
Are other Tamarac funds earmarked for this event?
Why is the City of Tamarac partnering with a foreign government to host a concert at a Sunrise church?

It’s outrageous that Tamarac keeps sponsoring events at this church. What happened to separation of church and state????
This has got to stop. Who is allowing our commissioner to spend our tax payer dollars to her school, church etc!
Why isn’t the city of Sunrise stepping up to help their own?

If we have that much extra money in our budget those monies should be reallocated do more beautification projects, allow owners to apply for more home beautification projects, paint etc…. She has to be stopped.
The money was allocated to the Area Agency on Aging that helps seniors and disabled which helps Tamarac residents. They voted to take money away from that to give to get church under the guise of food bank. However, we have food banks here on Tamarac that it could have gone to.
