Some Pompano Beach activists are outraged over an Instagram video posted by Commissioner Audrey Fesik. These activists intend to confront Fesik with their concerns at this evening’s city commission meeting. A video provided to REDBROWARD features Fesik and fellow commissioner Alison Fournier.
In the video, Fournier scolds Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Hardin for daring to criticize Fournier, Fesik and Commissioner Beverly Perkins by name. Late last year, Hardin criticized the trio for rejecting grants for school resource officers and a new contract with city employees.
In an attempt to point out hypocrisy, the second half of the video features Fesik criticizing work performed by three African-American female entrepreneurs. Fesik names all three women.
One activist told REDBROWARD that members of the community are upset with Fesik’s tone while discussing the women as well as her word choices and strange inflection while saying one woman’s name.
Fesik’s problem with the activists appears to stem from their support of a new development in northwest Pompano Beach.
