Broward Democrat Party Chairman Issues Statement On State Rep. Hillary Cassel Joining Republican Party

Statement Regarding State Rep. Hillary Cassel’s Decision to Switch Parties
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Broward Democratic Party is deeply disappointed by Representative Hillary Cassel’s decision to switch from being a Democrat to Republican. Representative Cassel misled supporters from within the party, but the bigger disservice is to the voters in District 101 about what she stood for as an elected official for her own political gain.

It is very unsettling that Representative Cassel has now chosen to align herself with a state party that has consistently prioritized voter suppression and policies that disregard the economic and health needs of everyday Floridians. They also side with insurance companies over people and billion dollar corporations as opposed to small businesses and homeowners.

The Broward Democratic Party looks forward to working closely with the Florida Democratic Party to elect a Democratic representative who truly embodies the values of the Democratic Party, and the priorities of District 101.

Why we the people have no power in the constitution to stop such changes ? She ran as a Democrat who people listened to and voted for, the Israel situation has certainly not changed since she won in November and as I see it the support for Israel from both parties has been unwavering , so therefore if its is now a personal issue (its not a constituency issue ) she should really consider resigning immediately which correctly would give the people an opportunity to vote again in a special election, most people vote on party lines in this country so I believe this is a potentially fraud against all constituents who placed their votes for her.

The excuses for betraying the voters who got her elected are totally bogus! She’s just another hypocritical politician with her finger in the wind.

This is a mysterious thought that reminds me of parallel universes. First, 45 didn’t get to be 46 and tried his best to change the results (talk about butthurt). Second, a candidate is elected as a Democrat, changes horses in midstream; and constituents (and others in the party) see they were sold a bill of goods and don’t like it.
