DeSantis Administration Investigating “Drag Queen Christmas” Performance In Fort Lauderdale

Yesterday, REDBROWARD reported on the planned protests at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts over an “all ages” performance of a “Drag Queen Christmas.” While the number of actual protesters may have been small, they garnered the attention of national media personalities such as the Libs of Tik Tok website. Now, after receiving multiple complaints, the DeSantis administration just announced an investigation into the matter.

On Tuesday afternoon, DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin released the following statement:

“The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DPBR) is aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th. The Department is actively investigating this matter, including video footage and photographs from the event. DPBR will, like in other cases, take action.

Exposing children to sexually explicit activity is a crime in Florida, and such action violates the Department’s licensing standards for operating a business and holding a liquor license.

The Department will share any collected evidence with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for potential criminal liability.

The Department frequently conducts investigations into these matters upon tips provided by the public, and we thank the public for continuing to bring attention to these incidents. Investigations of such allegations will remain a priority for the Department and, indeed, are ongoing.”

What a waste of taxpayer money. So DeSatan doesn’t even have to spend any of his campaign cash, he’s using TAXPAYER funds to raise his profile. SHAME ON HIM .
And his lapdog legislature just follows along, like the mindless lapdogs they are. SHAME on them, too.

Couldn’t agree with you more Patti Lynn. But, of course, as we know, it’s not really about Florida or “protecting” children. No, it’s all about the national office aspirations of RD. It’s playing to his base. It’s just another political stunt along the lines of (1) shipping humans to Marthas Vineyard or (2) calling for seating a grand jury and “investigating” vaccines. It’s all political bullshit. But, if it will pander to his base and further enhance his campaign coffers you just know RD won’t hesitate to do it. And as Tom has managed to admit in this latest piece, the “protest” was predictably paltry. But, he could’t help himself in trying to turn this mole hill into a mountain by comically suggesting that the event “garnered the attention of national media personalities (whatever the heck that means)” in the form of the “Libs of Tik Tok website.” LOL! Just a bit of a stretch there Tom? And, equally predictably, it has been suggested that there were allegedly “multiple complaints” about the show. Tom, do yourself and us a service and obtain copies of those “complaints” or the text of their messages and the identification of the complainers. I have a hunch as to who they might actually be. And, of course, the definition of “multiple” is “involving more than one,” so for all we know “multiple” here means two. I’d be willing to wage a bet too as to how many of the alleged “complainers” actually view the show…and that number is less than “multiple”.

Gee Scooter, thanks for that “insightfully deep” comment…not that it adds an iota to the subject of Tom’s article or the responses thereto. But, I hardly find its irrelevancy surprising.
