In news likely to boost his standing among local Republicans, the law firm of Broward Judicial candidate Daniel Casey hosted several events tied to President Donald Trump. In his campaign stump speech, Casey tells voters he spent more than 30 years building K&L Gates into a global law firm. Most recently, Casey was the administrative partner and member of the firm’s executive board. He is running for the Broward County Circuit Court Group 43 seat against Karen Berger.
In January 2017, the K&L Gates Washington D.C. office hosted a $1,000 per person pre-inauguration party with the Amer-I-Can Foundation. President Trump even tweeted the invite for the party. The host committee included Amer-I- Can founder Jim Brown and Apprentice star Omarosa Manigault. One of the honored guests was Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime attorney.
Cohen’s handling of the Stormy Daniels scandal is currently under investigation by Federal officials.
In addition to the inauguration party, K&L Gates hosted numerous forums discussing topics affected by the new Trump administration.
One discussion panel focused on “The Trump Presidency: What Could You Expect in the First 100 Days?” The firm stated, “On the eve of the Presidential Inauguration, our Public Policy and Law group is pleased to partner with The Greater Washington Board of Trade (GWBOT) to host an interactive panel discussion. Presenters will offer their insights on the incoming Administration and 115th Congress, including issues relating to tax, trade and infrastructure.”
Other forums discussed healthcare law, drug prices and energy regulations.
While it is unclear if Daniel Casey attended any of these events, local Trump backers would love to know more about K&L Gates support of President Trump and his agenda. It would be a welcomed change from the usual talk of Democrat issues.
