Ozzie DeFaria is taking his Congressional campaign to Israel. The Weston businessman announced a ten day trip to Israel starting on December 28, 2011. DeFaria is seeking the Republican nomination for US Congress CD 20; This seat is currently held by Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Out of Touch).

DeFaria says he will be accompanied on this trip by Pastor Larry Thompson of First Baptist Church Fort Lauderdale and Rabbi Pinny Andruisier of Chabad of Southwest Broward.

“Mr. deFaria has repeatedly stated his strong support of Israel and has admonished the Obama Administration for reversing long-held U.S. policies in support of Israel, including Obama’s position that Israel should withdraw to its 1967 borders for a ‘two state’ solution. Mr. deFaria believes such a withdraw would jeopardize Israel’s security and is contrary to U.S. national security interests.

During this ten day trip, Ozzie will tour the country, meeting with Jewish and Christian leaders about what the U.S. can do to further support a strong and secure Israel. He plans to visit Tel Aviv, Tiberias, and Jerusalem.

Mr. deFaria in announcing his trip stated, ‘Israel has been and continues to be our greatest ally in the Middle East. It is the only true democracy in the region, and they deserve to have the full and unconditional support of the United States. Unfortunately, the Obama Administration has practically abandoned Israel. President Obama believes Israel should go back to the pre-1967 borders, which are indefensible. I stand firmly in support of a secure Israel, an undivided Jerusalem as its recognized capital, and will co-sponsor the Jerusalem Embassy and Recognition Act of 2011 when I’m elected to Congress.’
