“Teacher Of The Year” To Apply For Open Broward School Board Seat

Robert Sutton, a local high school teacher, tells RED BROWARD he will seek an appointment by Governor Rick Scott to the open School Board seat. On Thursday, Dave Thomas announced his resignation from the Broward County School Board.

In the 2010 race, Sutton beat Thomas in every Coral Springs precinct.

Sutton, named “Teacher of the Year” at his high school, has remained active in school board politics. Earlier this year, Sutton received threats for daring to question the actions of the Broward County School Board.

The City Of Sunrise recently recognized Sutton as “Teacher of the Month”.

Sutton tells RED BROWARD he is “more than willing to be a voice for students, parents, and teachers.”

“I want to bring sound, ethical business practices back to the school board. We need to end the era of corruption and cronyism in Broward. More importantly, we need to equip every Broward student with a skill set that will help them after they graduate.”

  1. Great news, Red Broward! I hope Governor Scott has the good sense to appoint a great teacher like Sutton. He’s what the School Board needs!

  2. Robert would be what the Borward School Board needs: a teacher, a conservative, a father, a husband and all around a good and devoted friend. Anyone who knows Robert can attest to the fact that all you have to do is ask for help and he is there, always loyal.
