“COMPLETE MAYHEM:” Police Union Says It Never Held “No Confidence” Vote In Deerfield Beach vs Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony Battle

Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony (D-Thin Skin) was quick to tout a police union vote of “no confidence”against Deerfield Beach City Manager Rodney Brimlow. On Thursday afternoon, BSO released a statement regarding the vote. “I stand in solidarity with the members of our public safety unions in their recent letter expressing a vote of no confidence in City Manager Rodney Brimlow,” Tony said. “Their collective action reflects deep concerns regarding the handling of critical budget negotiations that directly impact the safety and well-being of Broward Sheriff’s Office personnel and the residents and visitors we serve in Deerfield Beach.” It turns out it was not very collective.

Just hours later, the police union representing BSO personnel including corrections lieutenants said there was never a vote of “ no confidence” by its members.

A statement by the Broward FOP says, “Decisions of this magnitude are never decided by a select few individuals, nor are they influenced by political pressure or directives from agency members.”

“Any public statements or letters implying an official FOP position on this matter do not reflect an authorized vote or decision by our membership. The Fraternal Order of Police will continue to follow our bylaws and democratic processes to ensure that the voice of every member is heard and respected before any official stance is taken,” Broward FOP District Director Andrew LaFramboise said.

Multiple sources claim there in turmoil in numerous police unions over this “no confidence” vote. Most complain that no formal votes were actually cast.

A trusted high-level BSO source told REDBROWARD it is “complete mayhem.”

The vote appears to be Sheriff Tony’s latest move to undermine the authority of the Deerfield Beach city manager.

On Sunday, REDBROWARD broke the news of Tony’s unhinged teleconference with BSO personnel where he attacked Brimlow.

Tony’s performance caused FDLE agents to investigate his diatribe.

FDLE Asking Questions After Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony Says Fight With Deerfield Beach Is “Personal, Not Professional”

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents are asking questions after Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony’s heated attack on Deerfield Beach city manager Rodney Brimlow during a BSO teleconference last week, multiple sources told REDBROWARD. BSO personnel and staff from the Deerfield Beach district were part of the teleconference. At issue—Deerfield Beach leaders are resisting Tony’s call for increased funds for BSO raises. Deerfield Beach and other Broward cities are considering forming their own police forces instead of paying Tony. In return, Tony has threatened to pull deputies from these cities.

Two sources told REDBROWARD that Tony’s performance during the Deerfield Beach teleconference was very heated.

One source said Tony called Brimlow an “enemy of BSO.” According to this source, Tony called Brimlow “disloyal,” and said his “backers would spend a million dollars to destroy” Brimlow.

Our sources said Tony declared “this is personal not professional.”

The day after the call, FDLE agents contacted some of the participants to discuss Tony’s video tirade against Brimlow and Deerfield Beach.

This is not the first time notoriously thin-skinned Tony verbally attacked a perceived critic. Tony has attacked City of Tamarac officials as well as Broward County Commissioners.
