“Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca
Announces He Will Not Run for Congress

FORT LAUDERDALE – Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca announced today that he will not run in the Republican Primary for Congressional District 22.

‘Over the past few weeks, I have been encouraged by the extremely positive response from the community in support of my candidacy,’ Commissioner LaMarca said. ‘The fact remains that I was elected just over one year ago by the residents of this great county to make much needed changes in our community, and we still have a long road ahead of us here at home.’

In his first year as a Broward County Commissioner, LaMarca has successfully brought Broward issues to the forefront in Tallahassee, highlighting beach renourishment issues as a top tourism concern in the state, as well as Broward County’s largest job creating asset Port Everglades.

Port Everglades is considered to be one of the biggest economic engines of the area, generating more than $13 billion dollars of business activity. Commissioner
LaMarca has been proactive during his time as a Broward County Commissioner in assisting with economic incentives that have led to job creation and increased revenue for the county. The port serves as a symbol of Commissioner LaMarca’s mission: to build a community of economic success and long-term prosperity.

‘There is still work to be done here. I will continue to focus on beach renourishment and how we strike the delicate balance between protecting our beautiful beaches and making sure we continue to attract visitors to Broward County. Additionally, we have gained momentum with the expansion efforts at Port Everglades and it is my goal to continue those efforts as well as bringing jobs to our county and growing our economy.’ Commissioner LaMarca said.”

Adam Hasner picked up another huge endorsement today. Senator Marco Rubio has endorsed Hasner’s bid for US Congress. Hasner released the following statement from Rubio:

“As my Majority Leader in the Florida House, Adam Hasner and I worked side-by-side taking on the status quo in Tallahassee and together we can do the same thing in Washington. He is a passionate advocate for American values and will fight tirelessly for the needs of Floridians. Adam’s proven record of cutting red tape and wasteful spending is well known and his leadership on energy policy and critical national security issues will make him immediately effective in Congress. I am proud to endorse and stand with Adam every step of the way in his bid for the United States House. His conservative, common-sense approach is sure to help us restore our nation’s prosperity.”
