The Archdiocese of Miami just announced all Catholic schools in Broward and Miami-Dade will be closed Wednesday due to Hurricane Milton. After school activities on Tuesday are cancelled. The Archdiocese will make a decision on school closures for Thursday once Milton makes his move for the Florida coast.
The uncertainty of Hurricane Milton’s track has forced the closure of Broward Schools on Wednesday and Thursday, the District announced Monday. In a social media post, Broward Schools said district offices and schools would be closed as Milton approached. Hurricane Milton is currently a Category 5 storm.
Here’s the official post:
Broward County Public Schools and District offices will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, October 8. However, district offices will close at 4 p.m., and all after-school activities, including evening classes, are canceled.
Given the uncertainty regarding Hurricane Milton’s path and impact, Schools and District offices will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10. All activities and events are canceled on both days. The Magnet Program Expo scheduled for Thursday evening will be rescheduled.
We anticipate resuming normal operations on Friday, October 11. As needed, the District will provide updates via ParentLink, social media, and browardschools.com.
