Legendary talk show host Phil Donahue has died. He was 88 years old. Donahue popularized the daytime talk show format with a mix celebrity interviews, cultural debates and political discussions. Locally, the Donahue show was a staple on WPLG Channel 10.

As usual, Donahue had connections with south Florida.

In 1987, Donahue broadcast programs from Spring Break on Fort Lauderdale Beach.

In 1990, Donahue introduced the nation to Luther Campbell and his 2 Live Crew.
