***UPDATE***

The Metayer family released the following statement:

On behalf of our entire family, we are deeply saddened to share the passing of my beloved sister Nancy Metayer-Bowen. She was not only a cherished member of our family, but also a dedicated public servant who committed her life to improving the lives of others.

Throughout her years in public office, she led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose. She believed in bringing people together, listening to those she served, and working tirelessly to create positive change in her community. To us, she was a source of strength, wisdom, and love-someone who always put others before herself.

While many knew her as a leader and advocate, we knew her as a sister, a daughter, and a friend whose warmth and laughter filled every room. Her legacy will live on not only in the policies she helped shape, but in the countless lives she touched.

We are grateful for the outpouring of support and kindness during this difficult time. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the lasting impact she leaves behind.

We ask for privacy as our family grieves, and we thank everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Broward Democrats Celebrate Muslim Ramadan, Ignore Christians On Ash Wednesday

A troubling national trend hit Broward yesterday as Democrats failed to recognize the start of the Christian Lenten season while celebrating the beginning of the Muslim Ramadan. The Democrat National Committee posted about Ramadan and even the Chinese New Year but remained silent on Ash Wednesday, the start of the Christian Holy Season. President Donald Trump and The White House made official remarks on Ramadan and Ash Wednesday.

One published report claims just 1.3% of Americans are Muslim.

Locally, some Broward Democrats mimicked their party line.

Democrat State House District 102 candidate Michael Friend made a Ramadan post on social media. “Wishing all celebrating a generous and meaningful Ramadan,” Friend wrote. He made no such wishes to Broward Christians celebrating Ash Wednesday.

Broward School Board Seat 6 candidate Roberto Fernandez conducted Muslim outreach as well. “Sending warm wishes for a calm and meaningful month to everyone observing. May this season bring thoughtful reflection, generous hearts, deep gratitude, and special moments shared with the people you cherish most,” Fernandez wrote.

Fernandez made no wishes to his Christian supporters on Ash Wednesday.

Why do Democrats celebrate Muslim holidays while ignoring Christian holy days?
