The Broward Sheriff’s Office Professional Standards Committee (PSC) recommended the termination of eight deputies for failures surroundinga triple homicide in Tamarac, a trusted BSO source tells REDBROWARD. Last February, Nathan Gingles allegedly murdered Mary Gingles, her father, David Ponzer and Andrew Ferrin. Evidence soon emerged how BSO personnel failed to fully investigate Mary Gingles’ warnings about her estranged husband.
In May, a BSO captain was fired.
In June, seven deputies were placed on leave pending an internal investigation.
According to BSO, the “PSC consists of community members and BSO command staff. The PSC meets monthly to review the investigator’s reports, discuss the facts of the case and make a recommendation on the disposition of the investigation. Complaints may be sustained, not sustained, unfounded, exonerated or deferred for further investigation. When the members of the PSC sustain a complaint against an employee, they also recommend corrective action to the sheriff. Corrective action can range from remedial training to termination. By using the PSC to review serious infractions, the Broward Sheriff’s Office allows community review of internal disciplinary matters.”
According to our source, in this matter, the corrective action is termination.
Will anyone hold Sheriff Gregory Tony accountable? After all, somebody is training all these BSO deputies, right?

What a witch hunt. That woman is dead because she let her own restraining order lapse and it doesn’t matter, her husband was going to kill anyway. He could have killed her with his own hands, a car, a gun…it doesn’t matter…. but somehow more tragic jut because he used a firearm? Law enforcement is being put right in the middle of everyone’s relationships because 1 case in 5 million cases ends up like Nicole Brown Simpson. 98% of these domestic violence cases are not prosecuted but police have to waste their time and resources on arrests, bookings and paperwork. Millions of $$$ and thousands of man hours wasted. Meanwhile police have to jump through hoops to deal with street take overs, watch burglars breaking into cars who flea from them in stolen cars and offer all kinds of services to the homeless guy shitting at the backdoor of your business instead of just arresting the asshole.
Law enforcement has lost its way. The only enforcement agencies care about at this point are domestic violence and DUI arrests. Other than that, your neighborhood business districts can go to shit. They don’t care. Next it takes 2 hours for a cop to show up for a group of kids that are casing your parking lot, don’t worry, it okay because 3 units are tied up arresting mom who slapped her 18 year old mouthy son and it takes 3 units to arrest mom, transport her and keep the kid under control because he is mad that his mom is going to jail. So your car will be broken into for a good cause.
Lynx’s propensity to throw his deputies to the wolves might be the reason over 250 deputies are applying to other agencies. BSO is so short right now they are unable to meet contractual staffing in the cities without overtime, some of it mandated. A simple records request for the daily line ups sent to dispatch for each city would show that. Deputies are exhausted working 60 to 80 hours a week continously month after month. What could go wrong?
What is the difference between Scott Israel’s accountability for his staff and Toney Gregory’s accountability? Aside from the lies Gregory told on various applications and his ethical conduct. Gregory’s integrity and honesty is one of the true examples of “rules for thee, but not for me”.
