Sun-Sentinel Thinks Letter From Republican-Hating Biden Voter Is Proof Of Ron DeSantis “Buyer’s Remorse”

In its latest attack on the Florida Governor, the Sun-Sentinel opinion editors ask “Do DeSantis voters have buyer’s remorse?” The question is based on a letter to the editor by Richard Goetz, a Delray Beach resident. Goetz writes “I have to guess that many Florida voters deeply regret voting for Ron DeSantis.”

Goetz goes on to list the usual Democrat talking points attacking Ron DeSantis. But Goetz is right about one thing—his opinion appears to be a total “guess.”

Demographically speaking, it is highly unlikely that Richard Goetz, an 80 year-old Palm Beach Democrat, voted for DeSantis.

But no need to guess about Goetz’s view of Republican politicians. Letters to the Editor penned by the Delray Beach resident appeared sixteen times in the Sun-Sentinel.

Let that sink in. Since 2019, 16 letters written by Richard Goetz were published by the Sun-Sentinel.

In 2019, Goetz wrote two letters attacking former President Donald Trump and one letter calling for more gun control laws.

In 2020, the Sun Sentinel published two letters by Goetz—one attacking Trump and one demanding senior citizens get a COVID-19 vaccination before others.

In 2021, Goetz had five letters published by the Sun-Sentinel. Goetz complained about Donald Trump four times while one letter called on U.S. Senators to abolish the filibuster.

Goetz had two letters published in 2022. Goetz wrote once about Trump while the other letter praised President Joe Biden.

So far this year, the Sun-Sentinel published Goetz four times. In May, Goetz wrote about FAU basketball in the Final Four. In June, Goetz penned a letter lauding Biden. In July, Goetz bashed former BSO deputy Scot Peterson.

How did Sun-Sentinel opinion editor Steve Bousquet think Richard Goetz was an example of Ron DeSantis “buyer’s remorse?” Surely even Bousquet, a Tallahassee resident, is aware of South Florida demographics?

A simple Google search reveals Goetz is not a typical DeSantis voter by any stretch of the imagination.

In a note following Goetz’s letter, Bousquet and his team wrote:

“If you were one of the 4.6 million people who voted for Gov. Ron DeSantis last November, did you make the right choice, or do you now regret it? Either way, we want to hear from you. Send your thoughts to letters@sunsentinel.com.”

Is Bousquet using a letter from an obvious Democrat reader to push a DeSantis “buyer’s remorse” narrative?

Hey Tom. I can’t figure out if you disagree with Mr. Goetz or are just jealous he’s been published more than you in a larger circulation print publication during the past few years. Frankly, who cares how often he gets his letters published. We should all have that level of drive in us in our 80s about any topic. All the more power to him to have and show and interest in our country’s politics. At the same time, DeSantis’ “showing” so far during the brief time since “officially” announcing he’s running has hardly been his stellar moment…even with, or despite, a campaign war chest of more than $100 million going in. Heck, he’s fired his campaign staff almost as fast as Trump fired wannabe “apprentices” on his “reality show.” Could it be that people outside of Florida are just wiser….maybe too many sunburnt brain cells down here? I guess a mind numbing “anti-woke” mantra only gets one so far. Keep writing Mr. Goetz…if for no other reason then it appears to get Tom’s dander up.

So Richard Goetz has an agenda. Apparently so do you – to defend anything Republican and attack anything Democratic.
