BROWARD INSPECTOR GENERAL WANTS RECORDS AND COMMUNICATIONS REGARDING TAMARAC’S $2 MILLION DOLLAR SHAKER VILLAGE DEAL

The Broward Office of Inspector General (OIG) wants answers about last week’s controversial deal to spend $1.9 million of Tamarac taxpayer dollars to purchase the Shaker Village clubhouse. Tamarac Commissioners Marlon Bolton, Kicia Daniel and Morey Wright approved the purchase of the privately owned eyesore. Records show a non-profit organization owned by Bolton purchased a Shaker Village unit in May 2023.

Two sources confirmed the City of Tamarac is in receipt of a letter from the Broward OIG. The letter seeks:

  • Records of any meetings between Commissioners, city officials and Shaker Village homeowners association members and residents between 2019 and 2023.
  • A copy of a park feasibility study and resolution to adopt the study.
  • All communications between Tamarac Commissioners and City employees with Shaker Village HOA members regarding code enforcement and liens.
  • Any legal opinion written by City Attorney Hans Ottinot or other legal representatives regarding the purchase of the Shaker Village land as well as Marlon Bolton’s involvement in the purchase.
  • All contracts and drafts between the City and Shaker Village HOA.
  • All emails, telephone calls and text messages between Marlon Bolton and city employees about the Shaker Village purchase.

The Broward OIG asked the City to provide the records by July 28, 2023.

The Broward OIG doesn’t mess around! Fingers crossed that the corrupt public officials, especially #StripMallLawyer Hans Ottinot, will be held accountable.

Glad to read the the Broward IG will begin a review of the skullduggery by Bolton, Daniels, and Wright, that would directly benefit Bolton, his wife, and his non-profit. The grift has to stop. And I sincerely hope she (Broward OIG) will make the effort to see how well-traveled Hans got his Tamarac city attorney gig back after he was fired a few years ago.
    Wow.

It’s about time the OIG was involved. I hope they start looking into Bolton’s “takeover” of North Lauderdale as well with his connections there.

HOPEFULY THE OIG WILL DO THEIR JOB PROPERLY WITHOUT OUTSIDE INTERFERRENCE, BUT WATCH OUT FOR BOLTON AND CREW TO SMUDGE OVER THE INSPECTION.
