Notorious Broward developer Shawn Chait was arrested Wednesday on numerous racketeering charges. A tipster alerted REDBROWARD of Chait’s arrest at J. Alexander’s restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. In the late 2000s, Chait and his father Bruce Chait were accused of bribing local officials in order to gain approval of a development on a Tamarac golf course.
According to the Broward Sheriffs Office, Shawn Chait is charged with seven felonies. The charges include RICO, organized fraud (attempy to gain property worth over $20,000 by fraud), and extortion. Bond amount is set at $10.25 million dollars.
